Strong rumour that the other bid was fronted by Gary Mabbutt.
If so I'd like to know more!

Me too. But im happy with what we got. We will get a new stadium, may not be exactly how Higgs planned but I trust Wael to check the plans and improve them. We will have all debts paid off. Thats alone is fantastic. But Wael also said he will back and support DC with improving the team. He is passionate about making our acedamy brilliant and completely re-organising the commerical side of things which lets be fair was crap! Exciting times.

This all looks wonderful for the club now I know all the details - I've spent the week taking a well-earned break. When I initially heard the news I was quite cautious because when any side undergoes a change of ownership it can go one of both ways and I immediately thought about how it would impact DC's position. But in Hamer and the Al-Qadi family the board on the face of it seems to have done a very good deal for Rovers.

Yes it seems to be a great deal for all parties. Of course its only natural to have concerns for the reasons you say, change of ownership can go either way. The unknown for us is a worry. But we can only go by whats been said so far and what has been said is great. They can talk the talk. Lets see if they can walk the walk.

They say that they want to improve the academy I wonder if they would support the link we have in the Midlands supported by the FFSC

When asked if he will be moving to the area or commuting, Hamer said: "Steve Cotterill rang me the other day. He bought a house for £500,000 and doesn't need it anymore. Maybe we can rent it."

Just a warning guys, they are not quite as wealthy as some assume. People are getting hugely carried away. Its not what HIS FAMILY are worth, it's WHAT HE is prepared to spend/lose. Time will tell if this is as good as it looks on the face of it

P49..it wasn't fronted by Gary it was endorsed by him along with Stuart Campbell and Lennie Lawrence, Sadly it looks like we'll never hear the details aired in public.

The family assets is what make them very rich. But you are right what you are saying but that goes for every rich owner really. FFP doesnt apply to us yet so we can take advantage of that. In the car on the way home Wael was on the radio saying he will sit down with DC about play recruitment and if DC needs a player he will support him and get that player. THey met yesterday and DC backs his squad and believes in what he has got available. Wael trusts DC and will let DC get on with it but will get in a player when DC feels its needed without disrupting what we got. The summer will prove what Wael is willing to do financially when nearly all our players are out of contract.

As long as the new owners build the stadium then we can be sure that they are as good as their word, because whatever happens in the future the stadium will be in place and no-one will be able to change it's use from a sports stadium for any other purpose. Also In the future the club will be held to the FFP rules and our owners will only be able to put money into the club for playing staff improvement as gifts and there can be no strings attached to it. I don't think loans against a club's infrastructure, which enabled asset stripping, are acceptable anymore. There do seem to be ways of manipulating the principle of the FFP rules by creating holding companies and shifting debts from one company to another within the same holding, but it's probable that that sort of creative accountancy loophole will eventually be eradicated.
I could be wrong, but it's just a point of view.

Whatever they do to fund the stadium, we will still be debt free. That is what we have been told. So I doubt we will use loans etc to fund it as those loans will leave us in debt.

I like what Hamer said in his interview. The stadium for Rovers is used pretty much every other week from 3pm - 5pm. You cannot sustain the club from the income that brings alone. Thats why looking at the commercial side of things is very important as Rovers is a business and need to act like a business. Need to gain a good stream of income ALL days of the weeks, throughout the whole year. That income that Rovers will bring in will be put towards the FFP when the FFP eventually applies to us. The new owners and chairman seem to want the matchday revenue as profit making and the other days of the week to sustain the club and wage bill. Therefore we wont be making losses. Thats how you rise.

Looking at our new owners achievements, I already believe they will suceed in this and do a hell of a lot better than what our previous board of directors were doing on the commercial side of things. We will also now have a proper financial director too who can actually count as well!

You don't have the level of business that our current owners have without having some business acumen, therefore I believe that they will find ways of utilising the facilities we currently have and the ones we hope to see in the near future to increase revenue and take the club forward
