Indeed. We are currently about where I expected pre-season.

Top 8, thought we were unlikely to progress in the CL with the squad we had (but still a great experience to be in it again) and still competing in the domestic cups.

It's about right for the squad we currenrly have.

And £400m isn't that much these days. Other clubs have spent way more. And certainly spent way more than us on building their squads over the last 10 years.

We've only just started operating at this level and still have players from Rafa / Bruce days regularly playing.

Another 2 years and we might be a genuine challenge to the big 6 on a regular basis. Right now, we are way behind in quality, but we overachieved.

 

I think Roland might end up being right about Howe tbh. He's been right about the summer window.

We' may well get to a point where to really move forward, we'll need to sell one or two key players for big money - like Villa did with Grealish.

Maybe Bruno, or Botman, Gordon, who knows.

(Most of) the fans won't like it, but it might be a necessary step. It will be a game changer for transfer funds with FFP. We've really lacked big money sales for quite a long time now.

 

They will eventually become squad player's. Let's be honest Lascelles already is. But Rome wasn't built in 2 years.

Seen Lascelles get slated again tonight but for me, the equalizer was down to Tripps sitting to narrow and leaving Leao in miles of space. Not seen the highlights yet as just back in and munching my pizza.
