Wouldn't be surprised if as early as a week Saturday we're above you in the League, if not by the end of this Saturday. Saints are going in only 1 direction, up.

Lol at your rented bowl while we own our own FOOTBALL stadium. Can't wait to hear Allardyce's plan for building a team for the future. lol. If he's staying now that you lot have sacrificed enjoyment for survival then that can only delay any chance of building a team for the future.

The next 2,3,4 years the only thing West Ham can look forward to is consistency. Consistently watching 70's hoofball from their 'modern' manager. Consistently getting neck ache. Consistently falling asleep. Consitently needing binoculars to see the game from the seating in their rented bowl. lol

The reality? Sam will be gone end of this season or half way through next. Replaced by Redknapp for your fans to spurt hatred at ala chelsea and Benitez while

brings in the 'cream' of the players from his accomplices' agency/ies.

For us? Continued management by the most knowledgable in Sports finance in England if not Europe or the world. Continued promises that we struggle to believe yet always come to fruition. And an improved St Mary's that WE own and control made for the sport that occupies it's lawns.

I know which promises I believe more.

The strongest reason CL might not happen is the current big clubs will cheat.

People are too hung up on club size/history/tradition. But in the modern age of internet those things don't matter.

How different is Southampton from where Chelsea and Man City were?

Nothing really matters anymore except who is the owner. Saints have good one, so I like our chances.

But it could be any PL club, maybe even Championship. If for some crazy reason a REAL trillionaire bought Portsmouth, it could even be them.

I was rushing because the wife and kids had just asked me to attend the dining table and waiting for me so they could commence. Would have been a lot longer but not less vitriolic :)

BTW I voted Europa as I am still a pessimistic person. I was pessimistic when we were told that we had a 5 year plan to get to the Prem. I was pessimistic on our chances of promotion from the Championship. I was pessimistic when Adkins was sacked and MP appointed. And I am pessimistic at any thoughts of CL qualification within 5 years.

I used to call my self realistic but it turns out that my realism has been incorrect for the last 3.75 years :)

I think we have more chance than West Ham though due to the way our club is run and by who runs it.

The majority of Saints shirts I see have modern names on them.
EVERY West Ham shirt I see is cotton with a number 6 on the back.

I know which club is moving forward and looking to the future :)

The Olympic Legacy Committee have raised concerns after areas of the Olympic Stadium's playing surface were burnt by the Olympic Flame.

West Ham have told them not to worry, it's only the midfield.

Nope, it was circulating a few months ago and I use Facebook so little I managed to find when I shared it again.

Happy to share, but in future, use question marks!

It's Allardyce's fault that there are still reports of snow being seen in April. Would say Pulis too but his sides aren't seeing much of the ball at all at the mo.

Look forward to mid way next season when you hear the immortal words.

I think we are better positioned than West Ham because of our infrastructure where we have players coming up from the academy and our squad is young and on decent wages.

But I do think it could be West Ham up there. Really, I think it is surprising that more clubs DON'T see a shift in power as an inevitability and think perhaps their club could seize the opportunity. So it's not "Saints arrogance" that leads me to my belief. I like at sports here in America. In MLB for example, there is no spending cap. The Yankees are (were) the Man U. of baseball. Now they are in serious trouble because they spent a ton of money thinking no one could match them. But now there are other clubs who can.

For example, the LA Dodgers were nearly bankrupt on account of their owner taking funds from the club for his own personal use, and then getting involved in a messy divorce. Then they were bought and now their payroll is higher than the Yankees and smashing all sorts of records. I'm not sure the Dodgers have spent their money wisely, but nonetheless the fact that they can now match or better the Yankees is significant. And some clubs have also increased their spending to match the Yankees but have done it more wisely.

Another example is if you look at the Miami Heat. NBA does have a salary cap, but that means that players are going to make similar salaries no matter where they play. So why not play for a team where you are almost guaranteed a championship? Miami is not a "big club" and Dwayne Wade is not the best NBA player. But he was able to convince LeBron James to play for Miami, and once LeBron started leaning that way, so did Bosch, and then once they had those three and a Championship Ray Allen and everyone else wants to play for them.

Like I said, I think the big clubs in the Premier League now are completely aware that this is happening and are busy make silly rules (eg. EPPP, the new spending rules) to shut this down. They may very well succeed but there are going to be some teams who sneak through before they can shut the door. Look at how many other big teams in other European leagues are now in serious financial trouble or how many players now are going to Russia or China or other places. There is a changing of the guard for sure.
