Mike Flanagan scored 396 times for the Addicks, scoring 120 goals in his playing spells in 1971-1979 and 1983-1986. I am pretty sure he scored over 15 goals in a season but I will have to consult my Home and away book. I remember being pissed off that Flanagan was sold to Palace for 650000. Also that he was loaned to the New England Tea men where he won a top award over players like Beckenbauer.
In the same way as the Estudiantes player stuck his bollox into Tommy Gemmell's boot when Celtic played them in The Battle of the River Plate Stadium. Yet Gemmell got sent off.
Season 72/73 Flanagan 12 league goals 3 Cup goals, Season 76/77 Flanagan 23 league goals Season 77/78 Flanagan 16 league goals 1 cup goal Season 78/79 Flanagan 13 league goals 3 cup goals Not quite right there.
Ah yes, 1972/73 Killer was at Luton, 1976/77 Killer was at Derby and 1977/78 Killer was at West Ham ..... 1978/79 was the year he had his fight with Flash https://www.shortlist.com/news/football-player-profile-miserable-charlton-athletic-derek-hales
We can indulge Conor a bit I think. He's doing the business in front of goal. Chuks Aneke beginning to look useful off the bench too going by the stats. 2 goals, and hit the post on Tuesday.
Think the squad on a whole is looking very useful ,we obviously do have weaker players but confidence through the team can spread to those weaker ones . Onwards and upwards
Quote from Steve Gallen today. Brilliant work - effectively swapping Lapslie & Oztumer for Shinnie & Smyth AND making the club money
As an aside, I see that Ricky Holmes has rejoined Northampton Town on a short term, pay as you play basis. Meaning he will probably owe the club money by January. His move to Sheffield United when he was at his peak with us really didn’t turn out well.
Our POTY's don't always do well when they leave (which they always seem to); Jordan Cousins, Diego Poyet another two.
