Cabaye would only have been earning around 8k a week, so an offer of £30k will be massive to him. Plus, he was the backbone of the team in Lille who won the league and cup double, he can't be too bad, has also made a handful of appearances for France now. Demba Ba is someone your fans have expressed would be a good signing for Sunderland, his wages will not be that high, I trust MA financially, there is no one better imo, its his footballing decisions that leave a lot to be desired.
Is it just me or were all you mackems saying hw good he was and how u should get him instead of us a few weeks ago...
No not all, I haven't once commented that we should get Demba Ba, if not mentioned already what happened to the tapping up affair we were thretened with from the Happy Hammers re: this player.
Got to say I agree with most things on here and as a Newcastle fan I'm disgusted at the lack of ambition from the owner of Newcastle and they way he doesn't let any of his managers run the club. It's obvious Pardew never wanted to lose Nolan or Carroll and it will be the same if/when Enrique and Barton go.
Most probably been done to death already, I think the majority of the club's excluding the top 6 in the Prem would not like to see there best player go, but when silly offers are put on the table, how can the club refuse. Us losing Bent was akin to you losing Carroll, but the differece here is you got the better deal out of it, In hindsight if the club was to know how silly the transfer's would go end of Jan, then maybe we could have held out for more on Bent's fee.
The difference here is, you only know a player is a massive miss when you see him playing well at another club. However, Nolan has gone to West Ham...
Most reports point to Brown staying in the North West, with Bolton or Everton a likely destination, for family reasons . For either of these sides I see him as a highly suitable signing.
All this best player leaving stuff, is absolute nonesense.. 1 example only.. Ronaldo...Man U... It makes a difference to the top teams, but they get over it quickly But to the not so big teams is seems more so...and you are lucky to get a replacement anywhere near as good... Take Bruce's daughters boyfriend for ex.It will take a long time to find one as good again. (sorry but it's true)
You seem to be very sure about facts and figures for wages? Can you confirm how you know that Cabaye was only on £8k per week and Ba is coming for peanuts? I have taken the Demba Ba figuires from several newspapers which is about as close to the facts as we will be made privvy to. PS - I too have never been very keen on Ba. I have heard some horror stories about his character from a W Ham season ticket holder and good freind of mine.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x9YsrtI1jgg I know we can have a giggle but in all honesty we are similar in alot of things. We both have made many mistakes but in all honesty what would any mackem give for a run like the mags had under Keegan?
All he said were that although he scored a few goals, he never really stood out in games and he had heard that he wasnt a popular dressing room figure. Very petulant apparently and very me, me, me? He said this 4 or 5 weeks before the end of the season and it wasnt bitter relegation talk (at that time). He doesnt and never has rated Cole either but thinks Parker is one of the best player he has seen in his time. Its the last hing you want (as shown with Muntari) to introduce that kind of player into a strong dressing room. With Nolan leaving and whatever the mags may hope, Barton putting out a come and get me interview this morning, they are replacing very strong positive dressing room characters with self centred ones. We really dont want those kinds of players. Anyway, I really dont think we were seriously interested and maybe Bruce has done some homework on him as well?
Hello, how are you? pull up a chair and join in, bet you have some stimulating conversation. (seriously, though join in, instead of being sarcastic)
You may think that is what barton is doing, but he hasn't changed what he has said ever since this contract stuff came up. He said the same yesterday as he has said a couple of months back. He seems like a straight talker and just calls it how he sees it. Different teams do different things for players. For me, ba is better than we have, and on a free transfer it's minimal risk. No brainer really. If he has a **** attitude.....it will be dealt with, it's not like we haven't had problem players at our club before.
