Just a quick update...the snow is so bad that they have cancelled the run this Sunday. They are looking to rearrange it...I’ll let you know when. Thanks to all of you who have so kindly donated to my cause! Saints by name, saints by nature too!
Our local paper has written an article about the half marathon attempt, just in case anyone wants to read it. http://www.southwalesargus.co.uk/ne...on_half_marathon_challenge_for_cancer_centre/
Would you believe it?!?? The original half marathon was cancelled due to the snow two weeks ago and was rescheduled for...yup, you’ve guessed it...today!!! It has been cancelled again! I’ll keep you updated with any updates from the race organisers, but again thank you for your support! Andy
Hello all, just a quick update for you. As the official half marathon was cancelled twice due to snow, I arranged a time and a route for our runners to ensure we completed the distance. We all did this a week last Sunday - I finished in 2:32:16 and was knackered afterwards! This weekend was the first ever Newport Marathon and 10km race - myself and a colleague completed the marathon in 5:46:58 and all 54 of my students completed the 10km race with times ranging from 41:32 to 1:29:23. We have now raised nearly £15,000 for Velindre Cancer Centre and sponsorship money from this weekend is now coming in thick and fast from the 10km runners - hopefully we will hit our £20,000 target soon. I wanted to say thank you again to all the not606ers who, despite not knowing me well (if at all), were generous enough to donate to my cause - you are lovely, lovely people!!!
Well done mate! There's no exhaustion that I've experienced quite like post-marathon exhaustion. Great stuff
