One thing that gets on my nerves - a few other people's as well I suppose are..... Bloody rule 4s..... especially when I only get a place on a L15
Right. This thread is meant to be amusing. There are a number of "Off topic" posts accumulating which are spoiling the thread so you can expect these to be removed, as will any more. As a warning we will be tightening up on blatant racists comments generally, in accordance with the Forum Rules contained in the Welcome thread. Thanks Ron Edit. Now done.
Just to echo what Ron had said - the rules of the forum are clearly stated on the welcome thread. I am encouraged to see that, as a collective, we can discuss just about anything on here without resorting to gutter sniping. Please keep it that way. Anything Ron and I consider to be in contradiction of the forum rules will be dealt with - subtly at first but for repeat offenders we have the nuclear option.
Cyclists who seem to think that the rules of the road don't apply to them. Then there are the ones who cycle in packs two and three wide when there is a perfectly good cycle track about 2 feet away from them (even more infuriating when the road was narrowed to create the cycle track)
two abreast is lawful , you obviously don't cycle on the road , so don't appreciate vulnerability, who comes off worst in a collision with half ton of steel at speed , the vehicle or the soft flesh and bones ? anyhow , cycle paths are often worse than useless , full of debris , afterthoughts where you have to stop and dismount at junctions , rejoin roads at dangerous pinch points .......i've been riding for over fifty years so do have some experience .....
Janabelle, sad to break the news but for proper cyclists the vast majority of uk cycle lanes are a complete waste of money. Around my neck of the woods the broken glass, dogs/dog **** and the staggered gates every 400 yards make them totally impracticle for anyone other than parents with their kids. If you go abroad, France for example, they have miles of perfectly usable cycle tracks which have been put in at a fraction of the cost. Totally agree regarding cycling in packs. I've done pack riding and there are always a few who insist 2 abreast is not against the law so can't see why they shouldn't. My argument about pissing people off who are ensconced in a 2 tonne machine which you're never going to win an argument with always tended to fall on death ears to these people. The other cycling thing I just don't comprehend is those who are plugged into music and thus not fully tuned into their surroundings - they are only a very short step from organ donation in my view. Having said all that I'm in no doubt at all that there are far more dickhead drivers than there are dickhead cyclists.
Yeah ****ing cyclists, my god hate them on roads. I get that you're on a tiny peddle bike and will get seriously hurt if a car or bigger hits you but please have some respect for that fact. You don't own the road it's your responsibility as much as it is mine to get out of the way and finally just realise that their are actually other vehicles on the roads
I cycle in and around Berlin and see all sorts each and every day - I see considerate car drivers and arseholes on bikes, I see twats in cars honking me to get off the road, even though I am perfectly entitled to be there. The integration of cyclists into road traffic needs real thought and investment, but it also needs tolerance on all sides. A bit like life really
And back to France ........... Macron’s efforts to modernise the French railways have led to widespread strikes starting today. On German news they said that train drivers in France currently get 50 day’s holiday per year and a pension at 52 and don’t want to give that up. **** me, get real
As a cyclist myself, I tend to keep to the b or c roads near and around my place, plus try and keep off the busy roads as much as possible. But, and this applies to a lot of things that pee's me off, most drivers have absolutely no patience whatsoever when it comes to over taking anything in front of them... I've lost count the amount of times I've felt the inside of the car/van or lorry just pass my right hand side. It's scary as he'll...
Oh aye there's some right bell ends in cars aswell. Motorcyclists I detest the most weaving in and out and zipping past about 2mm away from my mirrors
Worst on the road in my humble opinion. Has to go to the taxi driver. They drive where they want when they want. It seems most of the cars don't come with indicators and of course it's ok to pull out into on coming traffic coz why wait for a gap, why should you, you're driving a taxi.
There is an ongoing trend in broadcasting of adding music under the dialogue in documentaries. Often it is relatively unobtrusive, if totally unneccesary, but sometimes it is loud enough to be annoying. In my cross-hairs in particular is ITV racing's "From The Vault" snippets. They only last a few seconds anyway so why does the race caller have to be drowned out? I like to hear the commentaries to hear the also rans, not just the highlighted winner. Stop it ITV - it is fecking annoying!!!
I want to moan about Real cheating in the champions league by having Ronaldo. Have you just seen the goal!!
Daffyd Thomas wants to know why are there no Gender Pay statistics for Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals and Transgenders? The Village is up in arms...
