Having read this please pass to the others who use the site but may not always sign in these days....and any other visitors and friends.

Try to guess (or accurately calculate) four figures:

Shrewsbury's final position in the league
Town's goal difference over the whole season
The number of goals our top scorer will net
The number of games we will draw

You will start with 60 'points' and, as with spread betting, every position, goal or match you are out by...... you lose a point. So, finishing two positions higher or lower costs two points.....so it's accuracy we want. Clearly the result is not known until after the last match. All entries must be in before first kick off. And, if it's legal, there's a bottle of my port for the winner (better than Roland's sparkly stuff, AJ).

Don't wait for a 20 goal a season striker to arrive.....it may never happen.

That'll be an interesting challenge. Might wait and see some friendlies first though!
 
Here is my best guess
19th in League
Goal difference of -10
9 goals for our top scorer (lets hope its not own goals!)
17 games drawn
I would like to be more optimistic at this stage but after another summer where we seem to have missed the boat on players again I cannot.
 
Will post mine soon......feel free to change your mind after some goal fests in the friendlies! Maybe Jenny or Chris Gas head will have a punt??? I feel like a negative goal difference too.....even with our defence. Has Grandison gone yet?
 
Grandison has left the club and is not being paid - that is a strange one as he is not estimated to be fit until December and, good player that he is, it seems very unlikely that another club will offer a contract to a player with a long term injury. Is this another example of a player being badly served by the advice from his agent?
 
Not Ironic. Hope mixed with intuition. I well remember the start of the 1978-79 season when there seemed little prospect of promotion. Hanging on to 1-0 wins with gates below 3,000.
 
Well, it looks tight before we even start!If Town finish near 11th KDS will be laughing!

My effort:

Finish 18th, with a difference of -8, the new 'wunderkind' scoring 12 crackers in the 12 draws.

Let's see if we can get more than the five regulars.

How does one stick this to the top AFTER posting? HELP!!!!

You will need a mod to "sticky" it.

After tennis was over...they looked knackered.....thought I'd look at our challenge.

There's more subtlety than I imagined; it could be close if my spreadsheet is anything to go by...sad I know but a pint of Pedigree with the new American hops is really refreshing so it helped. Bit lighter than usual and if it comes from a cool cellar (not chilled) then it's a cracking pint. Already working on a version for 2015 'cos think it can work for any team in football league e.g. you should be able to get within two or three places for a team like Arsenal but the other three variables are a bit more difficult.

Try and get a few others to join in....guess you will Matster?
 
I will make a prediction when we are a tad closer to the start. There are quite a few who sit in the shadows and do not post anymore who would be welcome to contribute more!!
 
You sly old fox, AJ! By pitching you prediction between KDS and the next nearest you have the best chance unless Town finish better than about 9th!!!
Told you it was subtle!
 
.......re-calculated my effort ......think it will be tight in the middle .....will only change position to 16th

Thanks Shrewsie....you're in the mix. Matster will join soon and after today's performance I think he may be more optimistic than a few weeks ago!
