There is no organised Allam Out campaign. There is no antagonizing of the owner, he is the one antagonizing the support with an unnecessary name change. But he will face mass protests if he changes our club name to Hull Tigers.
And we can have all that without changing the name of the club. Especially on the petulant whim of Allam. It was stated in earlier posts about fans spitting their dummys well I am sorry this namechange is the result of Allam spitting his dummy out because he has fallen out with the council over the KC. If he behaved like this during those negotitions with the council it is hardly surprising they said no, in fact I am pleased they did, despite my previous support for Allam during that.
I know people say its hard for a fan owned club to compete against sugar daddies, yet look at Portsmouth their fans are loving been owned by themselves and it has brought some sense of community. It depends what you want from a club if you just want success support Man Utd or someone else, surely you support you're home town club due to an affiliation with them, due to the pride and the history associated with your club. Its something far more than just a football club to some. I would much rather a club steeped in history, a community and some thought for the fans than just become another corporate premier league football club with no heart and soul. Football has changed massively from when i first watched it in the 90's, some of it is for the better but there has to become a point where we stop and start thinking about the passion that makes football what it is. It shouldn't be about money, it never was for me, and it shouldn't be for fans. If we can't sustain been in the Premier League without losing our name, our history i don't want to be in the Premier League. Swansea City, Norwich City, West Bromwich Albion haven't lost their soul they've not had to sell out and change their name and they spend within their budget, and are still successful, why can't we do that?
Unfortunately theres too many on this board who would disgree with you. If the likes of Macca, Craig, Mr Hat etc can't get their fix of seeing Steeevie Geeee once a year at the KC then they won't want to know.
Swansea City are leading the way, they are now 20% fan owned. They also posted a profit of £14.6m in their first Premier League season.
German clubs have had financial problems under fan ownership. Just because you are a fan it does not mean you have the first clue about running a football club. In fact the fans would be more likely to base the decisions on being a fan and not a business and that would lead to all kinds of issues. Football is a business no matter how the club was formed, when it was formed, by who or how much it means to the community. The Allam's have put in an amount of money which is quite frankly mind blowing. I am pretty sure a fan owned club would not of got close to the amount. That amount saved the club and got us to were we are today. Be careful when you bite the hand that feeds you
Exactly and there revenues can't be much higher than ours surely? Their stadium is similar, wage bill will be higher...... Yet we need to change our name to make a profit.
Had we started from scratch, we'd be laughing, our problem is that we never actually paid off the debts from our last disaster, we just switched them from one debtor to another.
Makes you wonder how Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund manage to compete? Not only do they manage to compete with 50% fan ownership, but a Bundesliga season ticket averages £207, a safe standing seat at Bayern is £12 and at Dortmund is £9.
Don't think I said all fan clubs get in trouble and it is very easy to pick out exceptions but the main point I made remains. Were is there an example of a fans owned club putting millions upon millions of their own money on the scale of the Allam's. Quite prepared to be proved wrong
