16:45 Hamilton This race has an uneven pace map, and I think it is set up perfectly for a jockey to ride an enterprising effort, and two horses are likely to be ridden from the front or at least prominently. Those horses are Mondain and Corton Lad, surprisingly it is the latter that has attracted my support. Corton Lad ran in an amateurs race last time out, and he wasn't given an easy time in the lead, so it is easy enough to forgive that effort under a claimer that I don't know anything about (go on Barney, educate us). Tomorrow he gets Shane Gray back in the saddle and that should help him run a better race. He seldom wins, but as such he is dropping down the weights despite running fair races, and that makes him of interest, in a race in which Shane Gray might just get an easy time in the vanguard and if it gets into a battle in the final couple of furlongs with Mondain (who will probably travel strongest and trade much shorter than SP) I do think Corton Lad will outbattle that horse. So at the price of 11/1 I think he's a 1pt EW (shame only 2 places) bet.
and my daily questions to the forum. In the 5:45 Rego Park Lady is currently priced at 6/1, so given she is Irish trained, what chances does she have? what price are we expecting her to go off at? and will the BHA interview the trainer prior to the race to understand the riding instructions? Also, where is Rego Park? and is this a codename for a lady of the night?
Come on, make answers interesting or at least informing! What is it like, who do we know in popular culture from the locale?
I’m sure it’s the place where unregulated bumming was rife , until a ticketing system was introduced?
Brilliant rudey, pissed myself when I read this. Just got this image of a post office style cue outside some public toilets, all patiently waiting for their turn haha
Again, I've been allover the race and I'm still in trouble. On paper I thought Corton Lad was a bit disappointing, but on watching the replay, I think you might be on the right track Nass. It wasn't too bad a run at all. The top two in betting are the ones to beat, but I'd rather look for better value. Along with Corton Lad, after pouring over the replays, I thought both Echo and Question Of Faith both had a shot at the win. So if anyone wants to take on the better fancies ones, maybe the three mentioned might be worth a point win. 6-1 Echo. 8-1 Question Of Faith. 9-1 Corton Lad.
Imagine the fun and bonkers headlines that could resonate around the racing world if said Corinthian ever rode for old boy Tom Lacey…
I just read about George Baker riding George Baker to victory for trainer George Baker in 2011. Amazing.
The favourite proved far too good and Corton Lad faded in the last furlong to finish a well beaten 4th. So we are back at -7pts. Tomorrows one is just a judgement call on pedigrees. It is the 6:20 at Kempton, and we will probably know the result well before the off if one of the two Gosden fillies drifts markedly in the market. So you've got a daughter of Kingman out of a Sea The Stars mare versus a daughter of Dansili out of Modern Look a Group 2 winning mare. To me I much prefer Kingman's and this daughter of his looks very taking on pedigree and I think will take all the beating here. As its a maiden, I think we need to hunt out value and the 7/2 BOG with Bet365 looks just that. 2pt win
Interesting that Wasaayef is not entered in the PedigreeQuery, not as a horse nor as a Kingman progeny. I certainly like the depth of the Cressida pedigree. Shame I can't see the full pedigree of Wasaayef
Kingman is 4 wins from 11 runners as 2yos this season, whilst Dansili hasn’t had a 2yo runner on turf this year. The nicks are interesting- Dansili - Zamindar has produced 4 winners from 7 horses. Kingman - Sea The Stars has one winner from one runner who beat Dashing Willoughby on 2yo debut.
Willa has the best form so far but a RPR of 71 is nothing special. She would need to improve further to win an average maiden with decent bred contenders from good stables. Billesdon Brook won this maiden two years ago but it's long odds against that history will be repeated. Waasayef cost plenty and Kingman has had a great start at Stud with 13 of his offspring being rated over 100 on official figures and in addition he sired the French 2000 Guineas winner and Derby runner up Persian King. Looking at todays tips box shows little love for Waasayef though and it is the stablemate Cressida who is being selected by several tipsters. In the end I went with the relative bargain basement buy Dramatista, who is by Lope De Vega and cost a mere 60,000g compared to Waasayef who kerchinged through the till at 580,000g. Archie Watson seems to have his 2YO horses ready to run first time up and if anything the problem he has is in progressing them up the ranks successfully. The stable has been ticking along rather than flying but they have been 11/24 with 2YO's on the all weather this season and Guildsman was a damn good 3rd for them in the Coventry. The deciding factor for me was that Dramatista has an entry in the Group 1 Moyglare in Ireland later in the season, so presumably has been showing something at home. The betting suggests Willa is the one on 7/4, with the Gosden pair a bit weak. Dramatista was 5/1 last night and there has been some interest in places. You can still get 9/2 on her and given Willa's modest enough form so far and the fact that the Gosden fillies may be longer term prospects I am siding with Dramatista, who surely needs to win this to kick start a realistic path to the Moyglare. 6.20 Kempton Dramatista 2pts at 9/2
Dramatista is being backed, she is favourite at a general 13/8 now. The Gosden fillies are weak. Wasaayef is out to 13/2, which must be a concern.
The market is settling a bit. Wasaayef is back in a bit (4/1) and some 2/1 available on Dramatista. Willa is probably weakest now, out to 11/4. Interesting betting.
Need to watch the race but very disappointed to have called the Gosden horses the wrong way around, especially seeing the SPs of the pair.
