Corluka's our 2nd choice right-back playing at centre-half and our 6th choice centre-back and Bassong's our 5th choice, behind King, Gallas, Dawson and Kaboul. Rose is currently our back-up left-back, Carroll's something like 8th choice in the middle of the park. Nobody have a problem with this comment, by the way?
PNP - agree. It is an awful comment and he should be warned about it. SNIAW - you could probably say that about the Bernard Mannings of this world. The fact that he was joking is absolutely no excuse for a racist comment.
Squad rotation is part of every club, there was many first team and first team squad players out there last night, an experienced international strike force in Defoe and Pav up front. I don't think excuses should be made for performances like that on home soil, they were poor and did not try a leg for very nearly an hour against mostly part time and conference standard players. Arsenal have been crucified for poor performances and rightly so, most of those have come lacking many first team players but you have to hold your hands up sometimes and say it's not good enough.
I can only assume that you either didn't watch the game or you did it through some extremely strong Gooner Glasses, GSP. You have a totally unrealistic view of the tie.
I watched the tie in full mate, its was far from an impressive performance from your team, if you accept mediocrity like that then your clubs chances of getting in the CL this season are going to be very difficult if thats considered a good display. I was glad for the Irish side, they did themselves proud, I doubt many Spurs players will be saying that about themselves last night. You have to realise the level of the players you were playing against man!
they were never in the match, they had no threat.six shots all match, and only 3 on target, yeah we were really in danger of losing
And you have to realise that it was a cup tie. Shamrock raised their game massively and played above themselves against a very weakened Spurs side. They still barely managed a shot on goal and had an excellent performance by their keeper to thank for not going down to a massive loss. You're seeing what you want to see, which is reflected in your views on the Spurs Midfield thread.
It's a group stage game same as the CL league ffs but at a much lower standard obviously. Thanks for putting me straight on that mate, I see you are only being completely objective on the team you support. I guess congratulations are in order then on the marvellous victory last night, well done!
It's still a cup tie. It's Shamrock's biggest game in living memory. As you seem to be the only person that thinks that Shamrock were excellent and Spurs were poor, I'd suggest that the bias is all yours. They defended well, worked extremely hard and their keeper had a great game, but they were very much second best for the entire tie. Marvellous victory? Never suggested that it was. It was an expected victory with a side missing tons of players.
I think you'll probably find that only one player - Kyle Walker - will line-up against Arsenal on Sunday.
