I think one of the main problems with SPN was the fact the actual forum had so many problems alot of people gave up on it, people had log in problems and everything so hopefully a new site with better and faster software will make way for some new and old users coming back. In any case the few users that were on SPN still managed to get a good laugh there were slow days aswell but in the most part people come here to skive from work. FFS I'd make up another user name and speak to myself if it meant not working !!!!!!!

Talking about football is fair enough. But if I want to talk seriously about football I'll turn to the boy sitting next to me and have a conversation. Not too sure how he'll react if I start talking to him about beating hoors and footballer rapists though. Not really condusive to a good working atmosphere offshore TBH. I do like a natter about football on here as well. But there are hundreds of football forums, all the same. What I like about SPN is that no-one gets on your case if you say something really shocking and offensive.
But it is supposed to be a football chat site, isn't it? 606 without the over-moderation and 3 minute rule was the original idea I thought?
I can't be annoyed with all this arguing over what to do with the site - we've did it all before and we were never able to please everyone. Making one board from the football chat is not going to make a huge difference to the site, we will all still mostly chat in here. The names of the board arn't that important to me either, I named them when I was ****ing about and haven't bothered to change them but they will be changed if there becomes a demand from other teams. If we were, let's say, succesful in attracting a few thousand english football enthusiasists then there would be a need for individual boards there - they won't be attracted by one big scottish dominated football board. Anyway I want to keep updating the software and get it right before I try expand any further. I'm thinking of thing's such as Automatic match day threads appearing with up to the second update's of what is going on in the match (from a feed). I needed to get the site a little bit busier again and probably feel as it has a chance at growth to devote a lot of time into further development though.
Mick - Most of the moaning is over the names of boards FFS, petty as ****. I'm happy with it as it is and like you said; if there is a major call from the users for change then it can be done. No point in everyone fighting over ****e like this. You'll never please everyone. The automatic match threads are a great idea. Anything that means I don't have to use the BBC is fine with me. And like I said, I've no problem recruiting for the English boards when you've got them up and running.
Since its fundamentally a football site then I think football chat should be moderated. Wind ups are fine outwith the matchday threads but mindless uncalled for abuse should be chopped IMO. We're not YouTube posters. Off topic should be a free for all, apart from when personal information in a derogatory manner about someone is posted. But hey, you lot charge on with this toy and call each other ****s every day. I can say **** in emails so nae luck.
Frank I think we'll see how it develops before setting down rules. Most people got pissed off pretty quickly before when Ace set up (what were mostly sensible) rules so don't see the point in going through it again.
Frank - You are the guy that ruined a thread on 606 about with people sending messages to John Hartson by calling him a "THUG AND A BIGOT" repeatedly then go on about "mindless abuse" Pining hypocrite. Away and bum up people on Follow Follow then to say to each other how much you love Rangers.
People were upset with Ace because he was a ****. Nothin more, nothing less. I'll see how it develops before I decide to post on here a lot, I had high hopes for a new site to be able to attract a load of new members and also the opportunity for article writing which is the main tool for advertising a board. If it looks like a site for weans, we'll attract weans, and if we've got a board for each and every club you might as well nick the Subway slogan, "Want to talk about throw ins? We've got a board for that." Keeping the amount of boards down is crucial for interest, I'm sure the posters on here are clever enough to discover which team its about by reading the thread title. Another thing you need to consider is your "management team" (c) McFud. You already have a right hand man in Muir but you'll need moderators to cover the football chat and guide people through the forum. More importantly and something I've said for a while only to be ignored is that you need a selection of contributers who are not mods but write articles for the site. We cannot have any dick head writing an article on their take on a trivial issue. Articles need to be presented, verified by a mod then posted on the main site and the football forum for discussion.
For what it's worth, I think Frank's got it spot on. Edit** What he said above, not his 'Ace is a ****' post.
And I'm ****ing delighted with my effort there. 606 is for fishing, nothing else and you really need to loosen off that hook. I'd like this place to be far better than that.
Oh FFS I agree with Frank here Celtic board for Celtic fans Rangers board for Rangers fans General Board for everything else, including taking the piss out of Celtic/Rangers. Admin should decide which articles are worthy of going to the front page. I could write **** & submit it, its hardly a walking advertisement of a football site!!
It may turn out to be a dead ringer but I'm hoping that the NewsBot creating topics on what is going on for that team will stimulate discussion in the individual team boards. If it doesn't then it might be worth consolidating the boards. I wanna try give the football side of things a bash though as it's what will keep the likes of me coming back. We had a facility for writting articles before which no one used - I've left it open now so anyone can promote their posts to articles. I agree with you that this will potentially descend to ****e but I'd quite like to give everyone the opportunity to get used to the functionality and if we get to the point where lots of articles are appearing and some of them are not great quality then we will tighten the criteria a bit. I'd be delighted to get to that stage but suspect uptake of article writing will be similar to before.
Oh aye, so we need to moderate here but post anything at all on a heavily moderated site? I'm just pointing out that you are clearly a sad wee hypocrite who'll change his tune to suit whatever mood he's in. If that bothers you then stop being such a loser. I'm all for taking the piss, but when I do it, I use humour and intellect. Whereas you'll just post moronic trash that took no thought whatsoever. Probably the difference between being a half-wit and an intellectual though. I find humour in situations and real life. Whereas you find humour in the gutter.
I've always been up for article writing, when Muir resurrected (then ****ed) SPN I had 2 relevant articles saved in MS Word. It didnt work so I gave it up, those articles are well out of date now. I think you should have a private contributers forum where articles can be submitted and verified by admin before posted. It would also be a good place for someone to pipe up and say, "hey I've done a match report about the game." so that it doesnt get duplicated.
