I've seen us lose before and I'll see us lose again, but losing like we did yesterday is particularly hard to accept. I hope the team enjoyed the extra training today because in my opinion it was very well earned. Bruce has still plenty of credit with me, but he is being let down by some of the show ponies, many of whom seem to lack a crucial quality that is required in a game like yesterday - the ability to battle it out. We are stripped of a couple of crucial players at each end of the pitch who possess this, which is hurting us. Make as many lists as you like, which some will agree with and some will not. Fact is there is a grain of truth in some of it, but we are far from a basket case. That said, a change in attitude is required and a few more leaders on the pitch are required to kick some of the more feckless performers up the backside. For once I'm glad of an international break because we need to get Dawson and Jelavic back on the pitch. Jelavic in particular because Hernandez looks lost on his own and our stand-ins aren't up to the task. Best squad ever? Without doubt. Too good to go down? Absolutely not.
Some well over the top stuff on here, we were utter ****e yesterday, the players will get the kick up the arse they deserve and hopefully we won't see such complacency again. It was a typical trip to Burnley, a waste of an afternoon.
This is true but why should we accept that going to Burnley should be like this? We had the talent to win easily but they outworked and outran us. We played very poorly. Why didn't we attack them? Why were we so much better at Arsenal and Liverpool? Even though we would only have one point more, we would have been in a much healthier position if we'd lost at Arsenal and Liverpool but won at Burnley. Yesterday, in retrospect, of course, needed 4-4-2 with Rosenior and Robertson in. I believe Bruce can sort it out. I hope today is the start of it.
