What the press want him to say and what I am pleased the man himself and the club are refusing to bow down to, is for him to say yes, he is a Fascist supporter, so the press can ignorantly liken him to Hitler or Mussolini.

Oddly enough, If he was to say "I am a staunch Churchillian", would the press want to know if he would turn British troops onto working class people who were striking to feed their families, as Churchill did in the 20's? Or would they just soft screen it and paint it with roses and sweet smelling scents about a British hero?

If he were a paid up Communist would David **** stain Hopper be up in arms about his Stalinist ideals to slaughter millions of his own people? Would the dead soldiers who have fought communism ever be mentioned by him and the hypocritical ****s at the NUM, or would that not be his political ideals so who gives a **** about them?

You see everyone and every doctrine has its bad elements but also its good ones too. I have been doing some intensive reading over the past 24/48 hours about Fascism from the turn of the century and especially in Italy. If you want to read a very good article buy the Journal today and read an Italian Professors Dr Alberto Testo and 2 journalists Ruth Lawson & Neil Cameron. Many Italian fascists are actually from the left wing of Italian politics and ideals such as hard work, family, limited state involvement, self achievement and micro industry over big business.

Ideals I feel many of us, even on the centre left, would admire and support? The extreme elements of Fascism, witnessed in many countries in the last century and sadly common place today across Europe, are to be resisited at all costs but then when did PDC ever say he was a far right extremist? Just as far left communism is evil and should be avoided, so should far right politics but right wing and left wing political ideals can often cross paths and be heathly bedfellows. The term fascism conjures up images of jackbooted thugs (as in the Sun cartoon today) but is ignorant to the facts. I have to admit reading about the topic this week has broadened my knowledge without altering my political centre left stance. This issue of Fascism isnt a straight forward one but sadly the majority of the press dont seem interested in the issues just the sensationalism it creates fopr itself?

I may not agree with PDC but cannot for the life of me understand why he is being hounded this way. He isnt a common criminal or a law breaker but a European citizen living and working in Britain and is being witch hunted for having a totally lawful political doctrine about his home country. This is a far more worrying trend than his political views imo and a far bigger debating point. Are we now saying Britain is not a tolerant society of all creeds, religious and legal political beliefs? If so then this country has changed 200 years of history in the flash of a weekends headlines.

Easy solution to misinterpreted salutes is for him to stick two fingers up and say he is alive because of Churchill, but then they could misreport this as him decrying England's greatest whatever.

My grandad was a machine gunner at Passchendale. He was arrested in 1926 when he led an assault on the Town Hall in the General Strike because he was drunk and thought the revolution had started.
