    Hi *******(Me)

Welcome to a packed October newsletter from the Supporters Club & Trust! We kick off with some good news on the legal front...

Bristol City Supporters 1-0 West Midlands Police

Nearly four long years of worry after they were falsely imprisoned by West Midlands Police on their way to our game at Birmingham City in September 2015, 10 City fans who - with our support - were suing WMP for abuse of their dispersal powers have seen the police back down, settle out of court and pay them compensation. It was an important case in that it sent out a signal to police forces all over the country not to abuse such powers and has resulted already in the retraining of officers and a notable change in the way some forces now treat football fans. More on the case can be read on our website here.

What else should we be doing for supporters?

Feedback from supporters is key to letting us know that we are doing the things that fans want an organisation like ours to be doing ... and to pointing us in the right direction for our future schemes and initiatives. To help us to gather such feedback, we've therefore put together a short survey. It would be really helpful for us if you would take just a couple of minutes out of your day to complete it. The survey link is here. Thanks a lot!

    Happy 70th birthday to us!

September 2019 marked 70 years since the foundation of the Supporters Club. To mark the occasion, we commissioned a special 70th birthday cake, which was formally cut by Supporters Club & Trust president Marina Dolman prior to the Reading game in the Supporters Bar. Photos from the day can be seen on our website here.

    Luton beamback

Watch the sell-out game at Kenilworth Road from the comfort of a guaranteed seat in the Supporters Bar this Saturday afternoon. In addition to the main Sports Bar, the match is being shown on the three screens in the Supporters Club & Trust bar, which has seating for 100 people. SC&T members can reserve a space for free up until midnight on Thursday, after which any remaining seats can be reserved by non-members. So, if you are a member and want to reserve a seat now for the beamback, please e-mail [email protected] to add your name to the list.

Mates rates and 'Fans of the future'

As you probably know, the SC&T has 8 season tickets on the front row of the Lansdown Stand that we make available to fans bringing along a group of kids to possibly their very first game at Ashton Gate. We call it our 'Fans of the Future' scheme and it has proven extremely popular over the last two seasons that we've been running it. In fact, this season we have only 3 games for which the tickets are still available: versus Barnsley in January, Derby County in February and Hull City in April. So if you'd like to book one of those to bring along up to 6 kids, see this page on our website for more details.

As we have those 8 season tickets, we also have 8 'Mates Rates' coupon codes for the Wigan game on 27th October. Each code reduces the price of two tickets in a purchaser's online basket to £10 per ticket. If you are a member and would like one of these codes, please just mail us at [email protected] and we'll gladly pass on one of the codes.

The Atyeo statue - A final ring

Due to ongoing demand from fans who would like to add a name to the plinth of the Atyeo statue, we are offering spaces on one final ring around the plinth below the existing names. As before, the price is £100 and the maximum length of the wording is 25 characters (including spaces). To reserve a space, please e-mail [email protected]. Payment will be requested once we have sufficient reservations to complete the full ring (42 names).

And finally, are you a skilled decal applicator?

Or, to put it another way, can you stick fiddly adhesive lettering onto a flat surface in a neat, straight line? As you probably know, since mid-way through last season we've had three 'honours boards' up on the wall of the Supporters Bar. We are now overdue in updating the names for last season's top scorer, player of the year and young player of the year. We have ordered the names from the supplier and are now looking for someone with experience of applying adhesive lettering/decals of this sort to help us by putting the names up on the boards. So if you are skilled in doing this sort of thing and would like to help, please get in touch by e-mailing us at [email protected]

Thanks for reading on your ongoing membership of / interest in the Supporters Club & Trust. Please do take the survey, as it is only with your feedback that we can be sure we are doing the things that are most appreciated by City supporters.

    Cheers,

    Stu Rogers
