Earlier today was a taster for the creation of this new thread. My 'real life' mates are a cross of bemused by what I do or finding it great I am sticking two fingers up to the vermin. Stay tuned for the next instalment, whilst we are playing Rotherham the Elf shall be at Weston-super-Mare v Chippenham.
On a serious note Elf - why don't you go along & support Bromley while you are boycotting Charlton ? They have got Sutton United this Saturday. You can go to the Salisbury chippy after ..
Non-League can only be done groundhopping. I only go back a second time if it becomes a new ground with Charlton. I shall be going to the chip shop tomorrow or Tuesday. She who needs to be ignored is working and I'm no Jamie Oliver I have now sold the Bradford train ticket for anybody that was thinking of taking me up on my generous offer.
I think this ground hopping is a great idea, to travel to so many different places and see all manner of teams and meet the really dedicated fans who support them. A unique experience to enjoy until Duchatelet finally goes away, and Charlton can become a real football Club again. It's family that brings me back to SE7 each weekend, and for family reasons (partly) that I still buy a season ticket. If my circumstances were different I would be greatly tempted either to travel the country attending only Charlton's away fixtures, or to go and watch non-league football until the RD freak circus has packed its bags and left the Valley forever. Every Charlton supporter is free to act as his/her values and conscience guides them. Each of us does what we do because we really care about our Club, not because we 'pretend to' (as Tucker puts it). Even him and the other intolerant apologists care in their own way - if they did not, the attitudes of fellow supporters whom they so zealously disrespect would not matter to them and they would have quit their sniping and wumming long ago. Unlike them, most of us I think would not be so quick to denounce other folk who hold different views from us as not being Charlton fans at all. They cannot see how much they defeat their own argument, and reveal themselves as petty, small-minded and mean spirited people when they say things like that. Keep up the good work Elf, and may this thread flourish until the day RD slings his hook
Non-League is also more honest, unlike the Belgians! Saturday I paid £5 to get in and the programme was a quid. I managed to get a badge to add to my collection, so for all this I paid £9!!! I always like to add to the funds of the club by having a couple of beers so was VERY pleased to see Amstel at £2.50.
An ambition of mine is to see Charlton play at the other 91 league grounds. On last count I have done 68. What I needed was a Charlton owner incompetent enough to take us into League 2 for a season's worth of ground hopping - imagine how pleased I was when Duchatelet arrived.
My total reads 440, BUT there is about 30 grounds I have done abroad that are not included. Come the end of the season I would have hit 500.
If I'm not mistaken Dorking have folded leaving Dorking Wanderers. I think they are moving into Dorking's old ground and having it redeveloped. I have done both though. Dorking Wanderers have a good club shop for programmes.
I attended Brantham Athletic 3 Cheshunt 5, in the FA Cup preliminary round. A real barnstormer of a game, set in quaint surroundings. Loved it.
