I respect Risdale for what hes done but i cant help thinking that him and the other new investors are manily here to make money for themselves and would happily just try keep Argyle ticking and amybe settle for one promotion in the next 6/7 years.

Ok argyle12345 I'll ask you the same question that I asked DS earlier and he hasn't answered. Not trying to pick an argument by the way. How exactly will Ridsdale make money? From what source exactly is this going to come. There are no new investors at the moment, Ridsdale will be the owner of the club wholely and solely for £1.

I think we've got to stop questioning Ridsdales motives. Has he done anything to suggest that he hasn't got the interest of the club at heart since he first got involved? OK he might want to make a bob or two if it's available but he's convinced me that he genuinely wants the club to survive and thrive. As for the support, bums on seats or season ticket sales are the only way the club will move forward irrespective of what DS wind ups say. As Hobo said 'I'll be one of the sensibles of this world' and buy my ST whatever. But Ridsdale is going to have to seriously reduce match and season ticket prices if we're going to win back some of those who have been put off by this whole sorry episode.

Hobo - a sensible statement. Exactly what I put in a game of chess thread. It is now about rebuilding and support. Plain and simple. Otherwise stay away and shut up.

Maybe Ridsdale has changed, maybe his motive is to make some ammends for what he has done in the past at Leeds and Cardiff and has decided to help a club in trouble. (And make a few bob in the process at some point in the future.) (So maybe he hasn't changed that much after all!). :emoticon-0116-evilg

As long as Peter Ridsdale runs PAFC efficiently and legally what is wrong with him making a profit on the club that he owns.

Although officially PAFC has cost him £1 we surely aren't naive to think that that is all it will cost him,by off-loading the club the buyers have moved away from a football business and all that goes with running a club. Remember we were told that PAFC would lose an estimated £2 million this coming season.

Until proved otherwise I will accept Peter Ridsdale on what he does for PAFC.

It seems he is taking legal proceedings against the NEWS of the WORLD for hacking into his E-Mails whilst at Cardiff.

I keep repeating the famous quote "greed is good".

The desire to make money is what provides us all with jobs, products & services to buy and ultimately, the taxes to look after the poor & the sick.

If Ridsdale can make himself some money by moving the club forward, I'll be very happy with that. He sure as hell won't make money without moving the club forward as it has nothing to take!

My only worry is that he's willing to take the time to build it steadily & safely over a period of years. If that means a few seasons in League 2, so be it.

A cunning plan & a mad gamble for instant success is just what we don't need.

I think the main thing to bear in mind is that Bishop International are going to be covering operation costs and the expected £2million shortfall from this season. So even if he were out for the money Ridsdale would not be able to get anything for himself this season. I think he may skim some money off for himself when we start making a profit again but as he came in back in December 2010, has been the only one attempting to save the club and (as far as we are aware) has not had much in the way of pay since then, I would say he has earned the right to pocket a reasonable fee for his services.

    Cardiff fan here....

Seriously the last thing we wanted was Ridsdale here based on what we had heard.

Now after all this time we realise what a fantastic job he did to keep us from administration, then before he left he got us the best owners we could have wished for (one paid for Bellamy from his own pocket each week!)

It was easy for us to moan when behind the scenes the guy was working his socks off for us, when the investment did not come through when he thought he went on tv to appologise even though that was not his fault it did come eventually.

It is not like you dont know trouble enough, my wish is that you get some luck and that Risdale can do for you what he did for Cardiff.

Not all Cardiff fans understand the financial side but Ridsdale does.

    Best wishes.

Thanks for that jck200,...........to many people want to tar and feather Peter Ridsdale on past second-hand information.

I have not found anything in what he has so far done at PAFC to say anything but good reports on his dealings with Argyle.

It is very hard to see how Argyle would have survived without his intervention.

So thanks for the encouragement jck200................hope you rise from your disappointment of the play-offs and of them down the coast who will be nameless.

Hang on Plymborn, I'm willing to give Ridsdale a go rather than face the end of the club but when his name first cropped up there was virtually a torrent of posts from Leeds & Cardiff fans calling him every name under the sun and urging us not to touch him with a bargepole.

OK, that's a self-selecting group who happen to feel very strongly but the fact is those that bothered to slag him off outnumbered those that stood up for him by.... 50:1 or more I guess.

Also, more objectively, the advance season ticket sale stunt at Cardiff for which he's now threatened with prosecution was at least a piece of bad management which puts even our outgoing lot in the shade.

Bad news spreaders make good newsprint............NEWS OF THE WORLD territory.

Those that are happy and content with things quite often say nothing............and that don't sell newsprint............NEWS OF THE WORLD territory it is not.

It's called the silent majority, maybe they need to speak up more often...............remember they were Leeds & Cardiff fans they had to complain about something.
