That's another thing that annoys me. We have a squad full of great pros who don't get involved in all this time-wasting, head injuries nonsense they just play the game, and also Dawson. It just seems a shame to me, Dudgeon always stops his man cleanly, Dawson is usually pulling someones shirt.

I don't mean like in a really ****ty way though, he's just seen it all before and knows how to slow the pace of the game down if we need it. Stuff like that.

Agree with the shirt pulling, it's scary at times. I think he's still more than justifying his selection though.

I thought Daws could be the weak link at the start of the season but his performances recently have been very good and I think he's now as important to our very solid back 5 as the rest of the lads in there. Also, think Dudge looks better in midfield. Didn't do himself any favours against Crawley, although very few did.

I remember at the start of the season I was poo-pooed by absolutely everyone on here for saying that Dawson would still play a major part in this season. Everyone was convinced Dudgeon would totally take the left-back spot despite his lack of professional experience. I ended up being right but I kind of wish I wasn't <laugh>

I'm not saying I don't like the guy, just that I think Dudgeon is better and cleaner.

dudgeon got ran ragged in the 2nd half at saints, the game after he lost his place so it obviously didnt go unnoticed..
his time will come, but i prefer the experience and know how of dawson at the moment.
i know where people are coming from about the crossing etc, but in fairness its asking a lot for a mid thirties full back to keep going up and down the line constantly, he shouldnt have too with the pace he has ahead of him.
even on tuesday night our best move in the 1st half ending with one of the midfielders (cant remember which) playing a through ball through to dawson who was the furthest forward city player, and the ball just spun away from him to the keepers arms...it was ridiculous he was even up there, it should be mclean, stewart, or brady making them runs in behind, but they simply dont have the footballing brain too.

Tbh i feel this season Dawson has tried to attack more just his crossing has being poor. Yet defensively he has played well and is a safer bet than Dudgeon at times. But the amount of fouls he does in the box is ridiculous, at least once a game he could get a penalty given against him for pulling or pushing someone, just referee's dont have the balls to give them.
