You had one shot on target mate. Our chances - we had 23 shots, 7 on goal. Borini saw a volley well saved and nearly capitalised on a back pass. Shelvey had an effort well parried. Gerrard's shot hit the post; Johnson hit the bar. That's a lot of chances. Agree though that our problem is firepower. We don't have anyone but Borini who wants to be in the box. Not much balance going forward. Yesterday's much pretty much sums up our past two seasons, which is probably why I'm in a bad mood about it.
We were very poor yesterday and Liverpool were clearly the better team, they controlled the game. But if you can't put the ball in the back of the net then you don't deserve to win the game.
Well you can make stuff up if you wish but the BBC stats called it differently. 6 to 20 shots (80% outside the box mind) 4 on target to 9 from Liverpool (hardly that dominant then) 1 goal each Interrestingly as well, they show a 52% to 48% possession to Liverpool, which isn't as much as you may have at first thought either.
Reckon it will take another couple of games for Sess to get up to speed, same for AJ when he gets back in; Sess wasn't fit at the beginning of the season and the international break and the reading game being called off wouldn't have helped him. It was a pretty poor game though. Consolation is that Colback looked good - but I would still like to see what Meyler can do.
BBC frequently get it wrong, especially with possession stats. I watched it on ESPN and we had around 68% of the ball basically all game according to them. But I could be wrong. Some networks count shots differently, also. Really can't remember Reina making a single save from a shot at goal (good and bad that).
To be fair your keeper had nowt to do all game, apart from pick the ball out of the net for our goal. Unfortunately for your team, that's what matters. Like I said, I'm happy to share the spoils and you're slightly miffed. You played better football but no penetration. We have a good half decent striker in form.
