Upon being presented with the award by Jürgen Klopp at Melwood, Salah told the BBC: “I’m very happy to win this award, it’s a special feeling for me. “I’d like to thank everybody; my teammates and the people I work with. I am very happy here at the club, I’ve had a very good start here. Also the manager has helped me to settle into the team. “Last season I had a very good season with Roma, so I need to thank my teammates [there] and also my teammates in the national team. “The people I work with are very professional and I’m happy with them. “[Now] I’d also like to win it next year!” http://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/fir...alah-named-bbc-african-footballer-of-the-year
Mohamed Salah: Liverpool & Egypt striker 'becoming a boss' - Didier Drogba please log in to view this image Didier Drogba and Mohamed Salah were team-mates at Chelsea in 2014 Newly crowned BBC African Footballer of the Year Mohamed Salah is growing into a real leader, says former Ivory Coast captain Didier Drogba. Drogba, who won the BBC award in 2009, says Salah has improved since the two were team-mates at Chelsea in 2014. "He's becoming a boss and a leader - we've seen it in the national team and seen it at Liverpool," he told the BBC. "I can tell by his celebrations that he knows what he's doing now, he's not going crazy but just sticking his tongue out to say, 'yeah it's me'." Drogba believes Salah's qualities will be key for Egypt at next year's World Cup in Russia. "He can bring a lot of his leadership and his experience, that he is learning at Liverpool and with the national team [to the team in Russia]," he said. "You know for him playing in a lot of big competitions will help him to be among the best players in Europe and during the World Cup "Mo Salah on his own cannot win the World Cup but if all his team-mates are at the level the continent expects them to be, then Mo Salah can be a fantastic player and be one of the stars in this competition." Drogba, who is now part-owner and player at Phoenix Rising in the second tier of professional football in the USA, has been impressed with the 25-year-old's development in recent years. "He's unpredictable he can dribble past you easily and he has got stronger and he can score goals," Drogba added. "There was time when he was texting me: 'I don't score, I don't know why.' I said: 'It is just a matter of time and confidence.' "When you have the confidence, everything can happen and you can see now that he is scoring goals. "I saw how he improved through the years. He had to go to Italy to perform and then come back to England show that he is the player we always believed he was "What he has done with the national team as well being able to qualify the country in a very difficult game I think he deserves it." Salah clinched the BBC award in a public vote ahead of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Sadio Mane, Victor Moses and Naby Keita. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/42327845
just a quick line Mohamed Salah Liverpool 97 mins per goal 1354 mins played 14 Goals scored 3 Assists 64% of shots on target. followed by: Harry Kane Tottenham 124 mins per goal 1486 mins played 12Goals scored 1 Assists Shots on target 54% Raheem Sterling Man City 110 mins per goal 1208 mins played 11 goals 3 assists 48% on target
Both of those are English so will always be hyped by our media. Not saying bad players as quality, but the hype for Kane is laughable at times.
Kane is not quick but he scores a lot. I think he'd be mad to leave england personally. the open nature of the game here suits him cos theres lots of chances and in fiarness he gets a chance he scored. Sterling is having a mega season filling his boots under guardiola. give him a bit of credit.
Meh. Sterling was superb under suarez and sturridge. He has a better all round team at City to provide him. He was as good under us but they have a better rounded team.
he was ok yeah, he's deffo taken a step up this season even compared to last. I think guardiloa has stemmed the tide at the back with players who can bloody well run as largely its the same midfield and attack isn't it? I think sterling is still weak at actually finishing but he's getting a lot of chances. stats say 33 shot and only 16 on target but 11 goals. just shots the value of getting shot on target.
The Mohamed Salah story: In his own words He has exceeded expectations, enchanted audiences and eclipsed scoring records, but how has Mohamed Salah navigated his way into becoming a phenom at Liverpool? Since arriving from AS Roma in July, the winger has sped to 20 goals in just 26 appearances for the Reds, while striking trepidation into opposition defences. Salah is already wildly celebrated on the terraces both home and away, earning acclaim well beyond the club's fanbase. So how did the 25-year-old arrive at this point in his career? How did he develop into the explosive, intelligent forward that fits perfectly into Liverpool's aggressive attack? Liverpoolfc.com recently sat down with Salah at Melwood, who – for the first time in his career – discussed the moments that have enabled him to become the person and player he is today – from his early days outsmarting defenders on the streets of Negreeg in Egypt to becoming a formidable force domestically and on the continent. http://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/283440-the-mohamed-salah-story-in-his-own-words
Despite the underwhelming result, Salah played another game and scored another goal. I did feel that he wasn't at his best last night but he could have easily scored two or three yesterday. That's now 15 goals in the league and 21 in all comps.
