I've been banging on about it for years but we have finally conceded less than 60 goals (56) in the league for the first time since Claude Puel was the manager nearly a decade ago!
It's even better when you consider the extra games in the Championship and the poor start that we had under Still (19 conceded in just 13 games).
The defending in this unbeaten run since January has been at times fantastic with Citeh and yesterday being prime examples and I think that we are much more organised defensively under Tonda with the whole team helping out.
I really believe that we will no longer be a soft touch if we do go up and will make any team sweat to breach our goal rather than the suicidal tactics of two years ago.

When I read the title SA, I thought you had some inside information that was going to get Saints off the hook in the spying row.

But since I'm here, I have to say that although the defence is undoubtedly less porous I still have my reservations and if we were to get promoted I think we would have problems. While "putting bodies on the line" is great while under siege, allowing the opposition 51 touches in our penalty box plus 21 shots (as yesterday) confirms that we aren't as tight as we would like. There have been a number of games where our shortcomings haven't been punished because of poor finishing rather than a strong defence. We won't get away with that if we get promoted and keep these same players.

I'm glad that my title got one person to comment at least!...<laugh>

I would say that yesterday was very much an outlier than the norm since the unbeaten run started but i guess it's freshest in the mind right now. You don't go 20 Championship games unbeaten without defending well on the whole and there will always be occasions where you could say that the oppo missed a chance but I feel we have had control of matches pretty consistently.
Yes, I agree that there will have to be quality coming into the squad and there will be changes to the line up i'm sure if we do go up. My point was more the way that Tonda is setting us up and the way that the whole team defends from the front and we rarely give up goals too cheaply in the main.
