The replay on Sky shows Broony then pushing Balotelli .. it may not have been a strong push, but it was enough to make Balotelli fall .... near the box! Broony needs to be smarter at times a realsie when to get involved.
fair enough, as i said i didnt see the replay, i guess i should know better than to listen to chick young
Balotelli hit the deck, Broon didnae. Balotelli swung his elbow, Broon didnae. Broon maybe shouldn't have gotten involved but, had he dived, we'd have got the free kick, no question. Similarly, Commons was caught by Mexes on the edge of the box, Commons tried to stay up and the ball ran out, had he dived (which Balotelli would've done in the same position), we'd have had a penalty. It's a scunner of an incident to lose a goal from.
This Everyone knows Balotelli (and most italians) will fall over given half a chance. There was still a glimmer of hope at 1-0 Overall as well as Celtic played (and they did play well) you have to take your chances against sides like them. Remember we played well v Juve last season at Celtic Park but lost 3-0. We can play decent football. But the difference between us and a team like them is they will take their chances. But thats what you get when you have top players
Aye, so they urnae FFS. Nakamura dived all around Scotland, Jarosik dived for the Nakamura FK against Manu, Sutton dived about like ****, Stokes dive against Rangers at Ibrox... Just to name 4 off the top of my heid. Celtic are clever enough, I think that they suffer from stage-fright away from home.
I was surprised at Commons. He's usually quite quick to go down but he stayed up when he should've let Mexes clip take him down. I actually think he didn't expect Mexes to dive in and knew he'd taken the wrong option. Broon has had a few things like that before - the Lafferty incident where he was red-carded was alarmingly similar - a clash instigated by the other player, other player dives, Broon penalised. The shocker tackle against Benfica where he got straight back up - a player from another league would've rolled about and got that guy sent off. I don't think we got much wrong last night, still. I know folk are moaning about the final ball but we did enough to have as many chances as Milan did (our free kick hit the bar, theirs came back out, Samaras shot wasn't deflected, theirs was). Cannae really moan. Lennon, in particular, got everything spot on - subs were right and at the right time. Barca will probably beat us at home now meaning we'll probably be bottom after week 2. At least 4 points off Ajax is looking imperative.
What a great chance, the worst Milan team, most likely of all time, tried their best to gift us it, but we didnt have the quality in final 3rd to take the game. Mathews was excellent, but his final ball was poor all night. We didnt deserve to lose but thats football when you dont take your chances. As I said before the game, had we got a result here, and I thought we had an outstanding chance of doing that, I would have had us strong fav for second place. We still have a chance but this was our only realistic chance of a result away from home even though well likely have a game against Barca reserves in the Nou Camp on the last day. I expect Ajax to be beatable at Parkhead, and we also have a chance against Milan at home but I suspect come late Novemeber they will be a bit stronger than what we seen last night. Great opportunity missed but we are still in the game I suppose. We need massive luck now but weve already had our fair share in the tournament before a ball was kicked. 8 points could be good enough to get second in this group, thats why a result last night would have put us in a very good position.
2_0 Napoli and Balotteli just missed a penalty ( his first ever miss from the spot) Milan actually look half decent
