Knocked on my door this morning, And he asked to check my smart meter, Even though I don’t have one, I also didn’t have an appointment with him neither.

You wouldn't have an appointment for someone to read your meter, for a gas meter safety check you would do. You don't need to read smart meters, that's the whole point of one.

The whole point of a smart meter is so you can keep track of your energy consumption without someone needing to come read your meter and decipher it for you.
