I saw As You Like It in the pouring rain outside in Ireland 3/4 years back. Excellent apart from trying to stop the rain getting into my wine.

I remember seeing Alan Howard in Corialanus (in the brilliant RSC production in Stratford on Avon), when I was a allow youth. Inspired, I went to see Antony and Cleopatra at the Old Vic ....and it was pants!

Best Shakespeare I've seen was Othello in Trafalgar Studios about 10 years ago. Anthony Sher played Iago and was mesmerising.

A monster of a movie.Don't expect the unexpected, but this is a visceral, in your face "man versus the elements" adventure. The camera work is breathtaking and your focus is constantly switching between nature's chilling beauty and the savage human drama unfolding in the wilderness. There's philosophy here as well - despite a classic good guy/bad guy Western narrative, and the occasional observation about the tragic fate befalling the "First Nation" people, there's no good or evil in this elemental world; just a desperate struggle to survive.

De Caprio gives a convincing enough performance, but Tom Hardy is utterly mesmerising.

Many years ago I went to Regents park open air theatre for A Midsummer Nights dream. Champagne picnic in excellent company at a superb venue. Pleasant memory indeed! Must look at the 2016 schedule before booking a visit to England. https://openairtheatre.com/
