Wish I was around then...

I was eight and not allowed to go to the games. Dad and older brother went but I had to sit at home and listen to it on the radio. the next season, the promotion one was when I was occasionally allowed but 60/61 was my first regular season. Finished 4th and for a time had a chance to make it to the old First Division. Stood at the River End then because it was cheaper. And watching City away during our recent L1 experiences reminded me so much of those days. Standing, no roof and you could smell the liniment.

I also meant to say, that was what made me fall in love with football. I'm not so sure if I would have the same affection for it if I were eight now and starting out.

Not sure if I would either redruth, there certainly was a special kind of camaraderie standing in the stands in those days, and even more so on Cup days, when they were regarded as the icing on the cake, much more devalued these days and only really regarded as a kind of afterthought.

i was at Wymondham College and we were not supposed to have any access to football matters ( it was totally rugby there then ) but we all had crystal radio sets and went on walks into Attleborough on Saturdays so crowded shops that had commentary on.
