CTWD have always acknowledged the good things that the Allam's have done and have regularly commended them for doing those things, they just objected to a pointless name change.

All he has to do is announce that due to improved sponsorship deals, increased ticket revenue and player sales, there's no longer any need for a change and it's being dropped. There's no loss of face for him there and it's all everybody wants to hear, so we can finally put it to bed.

Unfortunately, he hasn't put it to bed, he still hates the council and he still wants to change the name(that's a fact, not an opinion, the club are not claiming otherwise).

This might all be rather academic, as we might have a new owner before long and he can bin it.

Would people prefer to have the name or success if it came down to it?

A name that isn't too bad + success or...

Hull City AFC + No success, struggling and back in the Championship

That's what it all boils down to.

For those who think the name change saga is over with, he said himself in Zilina that it has gone to tribunal and should it fail he will sell the club. He went on to say he's already had offers including a substantial one on huge eve of the FA cup final which he almost accepted but ultimately rejected.

I might take the piss sometimes but that is gods honest trust what he said. Scouts honor.

That is where you are wrong, Canada. And you've always been wrong - you and Happy and Patty and co.

CTWD have always supported what the Allams have done for the club, but have been critical of what he has done against it's tradition, and his petulance when opposed. CTWD have wanted to have a dialogue with the Allams, a constructive dialogue for the benefit of the club and its development. The Allams have rejected these attempts.

Now, hopefully, things will move on and Papa will let drop his plan for name-change (if he hasn't already done so) in the realisation that Club success on-field - and off-field as well - is what will bring profile and, subsequently, money.

That's not what it boils down to at all, we're already a successful club called Hull City AFC and there's absolutely no reason why that shouldn't remain the case.

There is no tribunal, I'm afraid that was just wishful thinking on AA's part, the bit about him selling the club is true though(at least he's trying).

Surely, all (or most, anyway) football clubs are effectively for sale, all the time.

Maybe he doesn't want a dialogue with people that have f*ck all to do with the business he is trying to run?

He'd have been far better off listening to his customers from day one.

Erm - they buy tickets and season passes; they travel to far-off stadiums; they buy merchandise and they support the club.

It's not purely a business, as well you know. Or else, why are you supporting Hull City AFC?

I'd choose the current name and continued success - that is, precisely what we have experienced for the last 2-3 years. Remaining as Hull City does NOT lead to inevitable relegation.

You genuinely think that supporters have "**** all" to do with Hull City? If there were no supporters, would Hull City carry on?

We're called Hull City AFC currently and are also seemingly a success.

    Funny that.

So Hull City fans have **** all to do with Hull City?

Christ you are an idiot at times.

Surely all supporters are stakeholders of sorts! Also known as customers.

This thread is fast becoming a "name change" mud slinging thread and we have really got to get beyond this.

Lets deal with the facts and the facts alone. The motivation and the rational behind the club becoming a big spender in this last transfer window is and should be immaterial to supporters. The fact is that we have a more valuable squad player wise than at anytime in our past. We have been to stadiums in competitions, that were only dreamed of in the past. No part of this is because the Allams wanted to give the supporters the experience of a lifetime, its a result of the business of running a football club and need to see a return on investment.

If anyone believes that our success is down to what the club is called, that is up to them, I do not hold that view. Unfortunately as the club becomes more successful, supporter loyalty has less value to it. If for instance we won the league and became champions of Europe, would there be any need to listen to the views of the current supporters at all?
