I'd love Jose to stay, he was wrong to make those comments and although that's a stupid amount of money to be fined, it's probably easily managable for him.

Am i wrong in thinking that Warnock and Shorey are actually both decent and if we were to lose Jose either one would do as a replacement?

Another way to ensure he will wan't to leave! He no doubt hopes he can fool all us just as he did when he forced Carroll out.

    If he is on £50k p/w and we offered him £60k p/w then that's a 20% pay rise. I'd say that's a decent offer.

He has stated that we have offered him the same terms he is already on, that is the only information we've been given to what's been offered. The club have not commented except to say they've made a fantastic offer. Obviously if they've offered the same money he is already on, they've misled us with this fantastic offer lark. If as you say they'd offered increased wages, then I'd say given he already earns a good amount, it would represent a fantatic offer for our club. At the moment we have to assume they've offered the same wages. I noted Pardew in his criticism of Jose commented it was now a "good" offer as opposed to a fantastic one. I think the club have been a little embarassed by Jose's comments exposing their "fantastic" offer.

It is a difficult one this. I recall that mostly Pardew has stated that the offer is "one of the best ever offered by the club". As Enrique is already earning the max under our wage cap policy and is reputedly the third highest paid LB in the premiership I don't see what else we can do. The cap is essential to our longterm stability and we can't break it, especially for a LB.

Enrique has spoken out of frustration and been correctly fined. I love the guy and really want him to stay, we certainly will not be able to replace him like for like but I fear that he will leave this summer. I just hope we don't sell him too late to get a replacement.

My employer sent a memo around the whole company saying that anyone posting anything on the facebook group that slates the company would be looking at disciplinary action for gross misconduct. There's a time and a place to say these sort of things and I'm not sure Enrique has the fan's best interests at heart. All he is doing is destroying team spirit. Imagine you'd just signed and were excited to play for a new club and one of their star players was talking about lack of investment? I think he's been a bit out of order on this one and it's not even as if he was telling us anything we didn't really know, or atleast suspect, already.

no excuses, you don't slag off your employer. he's gone down even further in my eyes, and he was already pretty low after his want away attitude in the latter games of last season, then the lack of balls to say what he actually wants. I will be glad when he's gone. Cracking player - undeniable. Linch pin of NUFC he is not

Different form of employment though to what you and Shearer's Raised Arm are talking about. All this trying to compare it with our mundane jobs is just folly for me. This kind of thing is common place in football, so it's like comparing apples with bananas. As I say he is entitled to talk about the contract offer, because the club has chosen to bring this subject into the media domain by claiming a fantastic offer. What else can the club do? Stop putting out misleading statements like "we have made him a fantastic offer" inferring we've offered him more than he is on and gone as far as we could. Just tell the truth and say we've offered him 5 years on the same terms and that's what the club can afford. the fans would have more respect if they fronted up once in a while. they just refuse to learn their lesson though, and roll from one drama to the next because of it.

He should not be criticising the clubs transfer policy though and has been rightly fined. but it's not gross misconduct as it would be in other forms of employment. People always try to compare what would happen in their job, to that of footballers. Different rules apply, not least to allow for how thick they given the education they've often missed out on. Its not really that big a deal, players make comments like this all the time. They get fined, we get sacked. As for upsetting morale etc, people need to get real. Modern day footballers have seen it all in their time. They will honestly not give a flying **** what Jose says on Twitter! It will have no affect on morale of existing or new players. They're a selfish bunch nowadays.

The question that really needs to be answered here is what is the club doing? They need to make a decision, either he stays and sees out the contract and leaves for free, or he goes and we get a replacement. We don't seem to have made our mind up which is just pathetic. Or we are deliberately stringing out so we can claim when he leaves with no time to spare that we couldn't get a replacement and its Enriques fault for stringing us along. Hopefully the latter is not the case

Twice for some reason Dave, I must really have liked your initial post. Seriously I think we all need to remember these guys live in a different world. I wish we could apply our workplace rules to them. Starting with ****in wages!

i'm not saying for one second our jobs are the same, but you don't bite the hand that feeds you - simple. He is turning into an arrogant little prick and this is definitely not the way i envisaged remembering Jose.

Couldn't agree less. Been an excellent servant and top pro in his time here. One very minor indiscretion out of justified frustration does not change that for me. Totally understandable for me if a little naive. He came because he was promised regular European football with progressive club mechanics. He got something completely different but stuck around to help the club at its lowest ebb, and because he was promised something progressive again. Signs were good but then the club reverted to its actual plan. (a plan that revolves around improving finances, one that the club needs) He was a bit naive to take their word on the Carroll money etc but he is a footballer. He now can't sign another contract because its dawned on him we are going nowhere at present, simply trying to reduce debt. Regardless the club is to blame as it should have been more commanding. They should have set a deadline and then sold him if it contract remains unsigned. Plan without him and sign a permanent replacement. But I get the sense this scenario suits the club to pull their latest deadline day sale. "Sorry he's stringed us along and we didn't have time for a replacement. Don't worry though, young Dummet, Kadar and Ferguson are the answer"
