He picked Eboue as a RM over Walcott when he played like ****, and when we already had the best RB in the league/world. Who wouldn't? At least Eboue had the work rate and got corners/fouls for us, plus he could put in decent crosses from hard positions. The alternative: Walcott getting the ball sprinting in a straight line and bouncing off the closest defender. Sometimes utility over 90 minutes is preferred to 89 minutes of anonymity + slightest chance of luck (i.e. Walcott pulling off a successful run without tripping over himself).
