Last night most of the Scots I know became honorary Frenchmen and will be honorary Swedes and Ukrainians in the coming week.
I've never really understood the A.B.E attitude to be honest. I remember as a youngster cheering on Scotland at the 1978 World Cup (I was too young to take notice in '74!), being as they were the only home nation to qualify. Even in 1982 and '86, with England taking part, I and any-one I know cheered for Scotland and Northern Ireland in their matches; and of course Scotland again in 1990.
I may be wrong, but I really don't think I'm in a minority of English supporters, when I say I hope for wins for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland in World Cup/Euro Qualifying matches.
So why the A.B.E Brigade? I'd be genuinely interested to know.
