Odd. Will be interesting to see what Ralph thinks. We clearly miss Salisu, quality that he is, and I much prefer KWP on the pitch. Tino seemed too conservative today.

But flat today. Whether it was the injuries, less time between games or the quality of Villa's offensive players.

Not a great game but we are still in the cup and we need to beat Newcastle!

Bad day at the office. Not even second to every ball, misplaced passes all over the show and almost zero attacking threat and then we let Coutinho have a free pass over the whole pitch. Oh well, still plenty of this weekend left!

If you had offered me these two scorelines back at the start of the week, I'd have said yes.

We won the game that mattered.

Yeah, confidence as a Saints fan just never feels right. You know you’re heading for a fall when you start eagerly anticipating every game.

Oh well. Bad day at the office. Ralph tried to change it at HT and if we hadn't capitulated inside the first 10 mins it may have worked. These defeats are easier to stomach off the back of a great run. Draw a line. Move on.

Well thank **** we beat West Ham. The reaction if we had rested almost the entire first 11 and lost then got beaten 4-0 at the weekend would have been horrendous (and rightly so!)

Oh, **** has happened. We're out for a walk along the canal, it's bright and chilly we'll have an Irish coffee on route, won't change the score but if I have three I won't give a flyer.

    Done with a bit extra.

Football pales into insignificance in current times. We lost a game of football, not our houses or lives.

*Sorry to bring politics to this thread.

I’m going to say it and might incur a lot of wrath but I have reservations about Broja. Yes he’s a great goalscorer ( and the game’s about goals). But he’s greedy and (maybe it’s his Chelsea roots) goes down far too easily. Was very lucky IMO to escape a booking when he made a meal of the bang on his head. Hit on the left side, clutched the top of his head, then pushed the Villa player. Someone needs to have a word.

Sadly you’re more likely to gain something than you are to get booked. It’s the game these days.

I don’t have reservations about him, but I do agree that he’s got a bit of temper that seems to be creeping through. His beef with Mings carried on after the shove when they both went up for a header and I think if others see how easily he can be wound up, it can be exploited. I’m sure we’ve got the personnel on and off the pitch to have a word though.

I'm strangely relaxed about this but I only saw the first half. Villa were much better in every department, defended in numbers and quicker on the attack, could have been 4-0 at HT.
