If you don't think that Liveprool suffered a major loss of form comapred to the season before when we almost won the league (which is what most normal people would compare against, rather than the previous 20 year average) then I can't help you.

    Reina joined in '05.
Gerrard and Carragher have been at the club forever.
Most of the rest of the squad have joined since '07 (Skrtel '08, Johnson '09, Suarez '11, Mereiles '10).

    Totally arbitrary choice of year.

You did, but that year was the exception, not the one where you finished 7th.

You're right, we don't know. But we base our expectations on probability as opposed to possibility, and what was outlined there will, in all probability, happen.
And Chelsea and City will shrug off the FFP rules, one way or another.

I assume you are also happy not being in the CL this season (last season being the exception) and will be for a few years to come as it would always be better than your 20 year average?

Amazing that Chelsea and City are in the CL next season too given their 20 year averages isn't it? Or does that only work with Liveprool?

No. Torres, Benayoun, Mascherano, Skrtel, Lucas all joined in that season, and they were more often than not in our starting line up in those seasons, which is why I chose to start the data collecting in that season, surely it's simple enough for you.

Wow, you really don't get it, do you?
    I'll try again.

KPR suggested that the only reason that Spurs finished in the top 4 was that Liverpool had some sort of catastrophic season.
I pointed out to him that the 70 points that Spurs accrued would've been enough to finish above Liverpool, even if they'd have had an average season.

    That's it.
    Get it now?
    No, I didn't think so...

Skrtel joined in '08 and other players joined well before '07.
You chose that year because you wanted to.

I wouldn't agree that Spurs finished above us just because we went through a blip, we musn't forget you had a good season yourselves, but it still doesn't mean that it wasn't a blip on our part, it clearly was.

In the middle of which season, please enlighten us <doh>

I didn't suggest that there wasn't a dip in form by Liverpool, just that it wouldn't have mattered, on average.
If you'd have had another exceptional season the you'd have finished above us, but to suggest that our 4th place finish was down to other clubs having nightmare seasons is just inaccurate, like pretty much all of KPR's comments on here.

I was pointing out the fact that it was also inaccurate to say that we didn't suffer a blip.

Our decline in form was directly tied with G&Hs sell more than you buy policy followed by a very bad season with injuries. We had sold off all our depth to fund first XI players and when most of the regular starters spent most of the season on the treatment table, we collapsed.

I hate G&H and what they did. I know it's wrong to hate but I can't help it.

Liverpool didn't suffer a blip in 2009/10.2nd to 7th is not a blip.It was caused by a lack of freshening up of the squad as a whole,a complete lack of investment. We expected to push on in 2009/2010,due to Hicks and Gillett we went significantly back-wards with their sell to buy policy. We needed 3 players with what we had to go all out for the title. It was there for the taking, however due their incompetence we got weaker instead of stronger and Spurs benefitted from the turmoil we were in.
As I said before,I wonder how Spurs will get on competing with a financially powerful Liverpool, one that is adding additions instead of replacements. When its them now that has to sell to buy.

A blip is a temporary decline. We had a blip.

I think Harry Redknapp has take Spurs to as far as he can.To challenge the traditional top four Tottenham would need a better manager.
Spurs can win the cups FA, and league cup and possibly Europa, they are unlikely to be top four in the coming season.<ok>
