How is saying 'we're better than we've played' saying we're ****? Even the coaching staff and players were saying more than half way through the season that we'd not yet put together more than 45 minutes in a game at the levels they were capable of.

Technically, however unlikely, it could still be Sheff Wednesday!

"The bit about Bruce being a tactical genius made me laugh. He's anything but. Signs quality players, he's an honest and likeable guy but tactically poor."

Blimey, your lad is no Bruce fan is he?

He's popped up on the Derby forum now.

<laugh> I've no idea what my sons opinions have to do with the post you've quoted, but for the record, I agree with him.

You've linked the wrong page, for anyone who's interested he's actually posted on pages eight and nine and they're long posts, not just the little bit above.

Maybe people want to thread the whole thread and other people's thoughts, rather than just your lad's?

    Just a thought.

Lots of people have said how bad Bruce is tactically, and for some while as well.

It tells you something that two of the people who support Bruce no matter what are also two of the most insulting and immature people on this forum.

That's pretty much what he is, nice but tactically inept. We've seen it in many games this season, Derby at home being the standout. Brentford the other day could also have backfired.

    Derby at home?

The only blemish on the division's best home record. What a lucky manager he must be, so inept tactically yet loses the least home games.

Bruce out. He dunt know what he's doing.

Even Steve Bruce said he got his tactics completely wrong against Derby.

And sadly we don't only play at home, or he possibly wouldn't have got them wrong away at Charlton, Rotherham, Preston or Leeds either.

Possibly the most embarassing thing that gets said on a football forum right there.

Does anyone Know what the points records are in Championship for teams finishing 3rd and 4th. Just wondered if possibly 90 points for 3rd and our potential 86 for 4th might be approaching records?

Probably, Burnley set a new record for second place when they went up with 93 points two years ago and West Ham finished 3rd on 86 points the season before.

"I'm not really into tactics" - Steve Bruce, 2009

Despite that, we've had a decent season. Only eight places behind our highest ever finish, which he coincidentally also delivered, and still with a shout of going up. I had hoped to go up automatically, but I never expected it, or like some, demanded it.

I cited our home record as the previous poster identified it as an example of the manager's tactical ineptitude.
The least tactically inept at home in the division.
Shall we have a discusson about how the other 23 are more tactically inept than him when it comes to home games?

As for the Brentford game, wasn't that the one where we could easily have been 4-0 up at half time but had to settle for a 2-0 which we defended with consummate ease after the interval?

I didn't expect Brentford's own manager to admit he was outwitted or that he himself was tactically inept, so he pinpointed 'the fixture list' and the way the games are not spaced out enough.

If only he'd PM'ed some of our armchair tacticians a few days before the game and asked for some pointers about what formation to play against dumbo Brucey eh?

I didn't quote it as an example of our home record, just as an instance of him getting it wrong this season. Along with countless other away games. Even so, you might've been happy with home draws against MK Dons et al, but I wasn't. It's a shame we have to play away from home isn't it, otherwise SB might actually appear consistent.

And he's been the manager for four years, has last season been erased already? Defeats to Leicester and Burnley were less than impressive.

Tactics aren't just picking players, it's also things like making subs at 87 minutes when we've been losing all game and Flogging players to death when they clearly need a rest.

Teams like Brentford should be beaten, with a squad like we've got games like that shouldn't be a problem. But because of we've been playing, all of a sudden every game has an air of doubt hanging over it.

Not really. The bad luck came back in August when Ehab Allam said NO to the outlay on Andre Gray.

If he had sanctioned it then Hull City WOULD NOW be on 90-100 points and already promoted to the PL.

However,, we have broken a few records this season. Another one is the amount of clean sheets (and Not the ones you put on your bed or find in a toilet roll holder). <laugh>:emoticon-0105-wink:

What evidence is there for Andre Gray playing for us like he has for Burnley?

Hernandez only had a couple less than him and given that Diame has been in support there wouldn't have been room for both anyway.

I'm certain we wouldn't have had both Hernandez and Gray together.

Don't forget how surprised we all were when Abel stayed. It was assumed he would leave and Gray
was lined up as his replacement.

You need evidence ? FFS....... nevermind.

We would have had both IF Jelavic had gone sooner. Ehab missed a massive chance and screwed up bigtime. We would not have signed Diomande with Gray on board.
