But then that's adding one set of live games to another comparing it to the foreign market where all games in both set of games are televised. Plus there's not always mid-week games so there's not always 6-7 live games a week. The average live games per weekend will be somewhere between 4-5 for this season.
I was responding to Sydney's 'we get 10 live games each week, you get 3' comment, a week was seven days last time I checked and we get over five games shown on average each week.
I do not see the restriction in not showing live games at 3pm as a positive for any premier league club. I would be happy to pay to view all 3pm games, if they where available on club tv sites like Tiger Player. Sat listening to a radio commentary on a Saturday afternoon is akin to having crystal set radios in the war. It is about time the clubs realised that there is a market out there and these restrictions do them no favours.
There should be no increase in ticket prices next season, according to former England striker Alan Shearer. Thousands of Liverpool fans walked out of the game against Sunderland at Anfield on Saturday in protest at a £77 ticket in the new Main Stand next term. It comes after the Premier League sold television rights in 2015 to its games for £5.14bn, kicking in from 2016-17. "I do not think any fan in the country - at all - should be asked to pay more for tickets next season," said Shearer. please log in to view this image Speaking in his role as a pundit on BBC Match of the Day, he added: "With the TV deal that starts next season, if anything, fans should be rewarded for their loyalty. "They should be getting them for £10 or £20 - fill the stadium up. Why not?" Liverpool led 2-0 at the time of the walk-out after 77 minutes but ended up drawing the game 2-2. Reds chief executive Ian Ayre highlighted the freeze or decrease in 64% of season ticket prices and 45% of match-day tickets. "Liverpool didn't lose points because the fans left the stadium after 77 minutes," said Shearer. "Liverpool lost the points because they're very poor defensively. "Having said all that, the club say that some tickets are cheaper next season." Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger believes extra television revenue will be used to buy players rather than cut ticket prices to meet the rising cost of transfer fees and player wages. "I believe the pressure on spending the money will become bigger and you cannot necessarily distribute the money to other people," he said.
I don't think it would affect PL games at all if the 3 o'clock games on a Saturday afternoon were televised, however I think the lower leagues would lose support from it. Some people just go to their local team because there isn't anyway to watch PL games. I've seen this when I lived in Scarborough, one week we didn't have a game for whatever reason, but Scarborough did & me & some mates got hold of some free tickets for the game do decided to go, out of 5 of us, there was 2 Hull fans, 2 Liverpool fans & 1 PL fan in general, who in fairness had been to quite s few Scarborough games. Also I'm thinking of those times I've been to City games & been in the pub pre match, although I'll watch the game & probably have a team I'd rather win, I'm not going to jump up & down if that team wins. Others seem to have more passion for some of those games than when they get inside! Wembley semi final Liverpool playing & the cheers that went up when they scored, I thought I was in a Liverpool supporting bar, looking round everyone had City colours on, even if it was just a scarf!
Well said Bruce re. our fans on the the Wembley concourse - I can't imagine the fans of any other club celebrating the way ours did when another club scored ....... ****ers!
I dont watch football unless City are playing....its rare i even watch England games. I do watch / Listen to an international game if a city player is playing though.
Absolutely. But Syndey will have meant weekend because they get 20 live games a week. His mistake, not yours
Not really because I'm sane and talk about normal weeks. There's midweek games maybe 6-7 times a season.
Not that it really matters, but of the televised games shown here Dec/Jan/Feb, getting on for a third of them are on a weekday... Yes mate, because this is the busiest part of the season. You're splitting hairs with me to be a dick so just move on, you've already been embarrassed.
Per matchweek (i.e. 10 games involving unique teams) there's at most 5 games televised in England, half the amount televised anywhere else in the world.
Says the guy that's just been shown to be a fool. Well done pussytugger or roostergrabber or dogscreamer or whatever insult you usually use.
Showing the televised games from December/January ain't a representation of the whole season. That's the busiest part of the season and one with no European games midweek preventing PL games being shown there. Anyway, I'll leave the two of you to continue arguing and I'll exit stage left.
