Correct. Although it is nice to dream that I was related to the great Norman Yardley, but unfortunately no. However, I did see (and I believe Mrs. BMB's husband did) Norman Yardley, Len Hutton, Fred Trueman, Johnny Wardle, Ray Illingworth, Brian Close, Ron Appleyard, and others when the Yorkshire team (when it was a Yorkshire team!) played at the Circle on Anlaby road across from the Boulevard and Riley High School. We would go out on a lunchtime and stand on the railway bridge. The Circle of course is now the KC Stadium.

Sorry. William Yardley was born in Ransclough near Leek in Staffordshire. He was a Quaker and bought 500 acres on the Delaware (river) from William Penn for 10 GBP and he settled with his family in 1682. Here endeth the History lesson courtesy of Google.

Jimmy Binks who was a couple of years ahead of both of you at Riley watched from that bridge too. Wonder if he ever dreamed of playing for Yorkshire and England?

You're most welcome. I've lived in the Wet End (sic) since the turn of the century, at the top of Mole Hill one block west of Nelson Park. Still a fine place in my opinion, but likely a bit busier than what you remember.

Here is the 75 club Canada. A small group of 5 but some real quality supporting years there. They are listed with the year they attained the 75 mark.

    charles stokell. ( 2007)

    joannahatfield. ( 2012)

    Yardley Tiger. (2013- March)

    TigerRoo. (2013- November)

    CanadaTiger. (2014)

Apart from 'nwtiger' who will qualify next year others are at least 4 years away.

That's an impressive but small group Mrs BMB  Maybe we should have a Junior Members section for those young sprouts over 70. Wouldn't that include you and Mr BMB?? Looks like Charles should be our Honorary President.

Junior Member section would only have 5 members too. Would include me but my husband is in his 76th year and if he was eligible would follow behind Yardley. Charles is already the Foundation Member and Honorary President of the 80 Club! Joanna would be the ideal choice for Honorary President of the 75 Club.

I don't think my husband joining would be a good idea. That would give 3 ex Riley High students so could become a de facto RHS Old Boys Club. I am sure as an ex Hull Grammar School lad you would not like that!

Actually it was my Dad and his brother who were the Hull Grammar School lads in the late 20s Mrs BMB. I went to Pocklington for 10 years before going on to Uni in 57. But I get your point about the Riley High gang...they could be dangerous!!

All very interesting,I actually am 75 this September (if spared). Went to Wheeler street school and Hull Grammar and objected strongly to Riley building their new school on Parkfield playing fields, our playground. Various acts of sabotage failed to stop the building going ahead.
We used to watch Yorkshire C.C stood on our bikes looking over a fence in West Park.
    SAY NO TO HULL TIGERS.

Same birth month as my husband. His is on the 1st. He never visited the new build at Parkfield. Both his uncle's sons went to Hull Grammar with one playing for Hull City Boys and both ended up living here in Aus.

What a sobering thought around 336 years of Tiger support from five people. From Carter to Huddlestone! And to alleviate NW's pain, the "new" Riley is no more. It was razed to the ground. However our building is still there on the Boulevard albeit no longer a school. It's a crying shame that "they" in their wisdom eliminated all those old fine Hull schools.
