Hope your lungs have had a happy 75 years, you might struggle with the candles... please log in to view this image I know it says mum but it's the only one I could find with 75 candles
And I thought it was you trying to catch me up old fella - it appears you have a 7 point lead on me in fact ! Many Happy Returns, with many more to come. If you're in Victoria, have a pint on me at the "Sticky Wicket" !
Happy Birthday CanadaTiger, five years in front of me, it was my 70th last Tuesday. Had all my family over at weekend for a big knees up but meant I had to miss the Chelsea game never mind, saw it live on the box and it was great to see all the kids / grandkids.
WOW!! Thanks Mrs BMB for remembering, and to all you guys. Didn't expect that. I'll be celebrating tomorrow in Victoria with lunch at my favourite Japanese restaurant and then a movie, probably Lone Survivor. I didn't quite make it into WWII but God bless all those who have fought and died for our freedom, including my dear Dad. Hope all of you have a great day and a great year. Europe next year????
Thanks PLT...much appreciated. I know we've had our differences on here but as my Indian friends would say.."time to bury the hatchet". Peace bro.
Don't feel like a kid ! Sticky Wicket is a sports bar just 2 mins walk from the harbour & the Empress Hotel with a few "theme" bars - lively place. Last time I was in there was for '92 Stanley Cup final series when Vancouver played New York Rangers - went 7 games - exciting stuff. I think they had some riots in Vancouver that week. Reminiscent of football hooliganism sadly. Not like the usual mild-mannered Canucks....but that's what happens when you lose the 7th game.. Enjoy your day CT. PS. Sure your not a mellowing pot smoking hippie ?. Salt Spring Island used to be a Mecca for peacenicks & flower children in the mid to late 60's.
Still is a pot smoking Mecca TC. The last haven of flower children and Nam War deserters. Not my scene though

Lucky for those of us in the U.S. we get the opportunity to watch more EPL games than people in Britain, still can't understand that other than some crazy BBC rules. BTW - Most Croatians are excited about the move also, they think Hulls style of play fits Nikicas' strengths. If the fans and his team mates get behind him I'm expecting some exciting games." Couldn't find your original reply Mark but saw it quoted elsewhere. Yes I spent 50 years in investment management, the last 40 with my own firm. I lived in Montecito, SB..nice area. My kids live in PV (teacher at Chadwick private school), and BH (apartment manager). Pasadena is certainly no low-rent district. Good time to be in IT sales. Yes its great we can watch all the EPL games...even here on the Island. Looking forward to seeing Nikica in the black and amber.
Well we do have a bit in common. My dad like yours was an RAF pilot and was also killed in the war. He lived for a while in Victoria and his parents had a holiday home on Salt Spring Island.Today my sister-in-law announced the arrival of her youngest daughter's first child after numerous attempts via the UK IVF programme(she was on her last attempt) -a baby girl born on your birthday. Both the daughter and her husband are Hull City passholders.
Interesting parallels there Mrs BMB. Do you know what squadron your Dad was in.? Was he Bomber Command.? My kids gave me a book called "We Wage War by Night" for Christmas...its a history of No.622 Squadron based at Mildenhall which my Dad was in. Has a Roll of Honour listing all the men killed and the POWs. Interesting that he lived in Victoria and his parents had a home on Salt Spring. Congratulations on the new family arrival. We just had a new grandson in September. Saw him for the first time in LA at Christmas. Lovely little boy.
