7 different goalscorers but Schneiderlin not one of them - i am shocked. It can only be a matter of time (about 3 seasons) before he scores again.
Rickie is our only real "centre forward" ie 6ft+ strong, holds ball up & good in the air - all our other strikers are "inside forwards" who are smaller & quicker working off flick ons and running the channels If we buy another stricker he has to be a centre forward as we have no cover for Rickie at the moment
That's true, but what we did last season, when Rickie was rested or unavailable, was play in a different way, with Barnard leading the line, but not doing the Lambert role, specifically.
Just watched the Torquay highlights and we played a diamond midfield in the second half with Lallana playing centrally and he picked Torquay's defence apart at will with willing runners in Chaplow and Forte. Naturally the championship will be a step up opposed to a tireing Torquay defence, but all positive stuff. Having said that an Alternative striker would be welcome, perhaps the loan market will be best used as Lambert & Connolly with Barnard as back up is very good but we can't risk being short. Look at what happened to poor Doncaster.
They are sharing the goals out..none of these seven will score again until Spiderman does his bit..we could be in trouble! Also get the shakes everytime anyone mentions Rickie could get injured..lack of striker on sub bench Saturday demonstrates we need another centre forward.
Went to the game was disappointed with Guly passes were all over the place, impressed with Holmes but final delivery wasn't good enough, other than that was a good game
