    Happened to me years ago.

Flight from Glasgow to Majorca (I think), spent 3 hrs circling Glasgow to burn fuel as there was a technical fault.

The irony was not lost when we realised that we would have been 95% of the way there had the pilot had a set of balls to ignore the planes warning system <steam>

I was on a plane back from Majorca last year, coming in for landing... it then re-engaed the engines and "took off" mid air! Some noise and movement!

    ****in shat maself!!!

It lost the signal for the beacon and circled for about 30 mins awaiting a new time slot!

Were they losing altitude because there was too much weight on board?

Was on a plane landing at Luton when a huge storm was raging across southern England.

The plane was rocking and rolling all over as it neared the runway, I could see the tarmac oot the windae, and then it went full power and started climbing again. Circled for about half an hour before coming in for a second attempt successfully.

I was not in the least perturbed. Nerves of steel, me.
