Qualification may well be the catalyst which sets of a reconciliatory action between Monk and Michu, it wouldn't do our prospects in the summer transfer window any harm either. Who qualifies? brings us back to the old cliche, 'who wants it the most'. Europa is a poison chalice for smaller clubs this year when you consider the increase in money next season and, at this stage in proceedings, it seems as though both Spurs and Sotton in particular, are having a change of heart. It'll be interesting to contrast the intent and performances of the contenders over the remaining games. Right now both Spurs and Sotton are dramatically under performing, (deliberately? who knows just thought I'd ask) while we are continuing in the same vein we have all season. Games left Sotton Aston Villa (H) Man City (A) Spurs Hull (H) Everton (A) Swans Man City(H) Pallace (A) Its possible for us to qualify but I feel it hinges on whether Sotton want it or throw it
This years winners qualify for Champions League http://www.uefa.com/uefaeuropaleague/news/newsid=2215121.html
Can see both Saints and Spurs getting 3 points each from those 2 games. Now if we can beat Man city then who knows. All will become clear with this weekends results. Think it may be goal difference that keeps us in eighth.
Love to qualify if we can, We know through our experience that if it should happen that jinx and the board will have to give monk more money than if we don't qualify to add between 6 - 8 quality players to the squad. The more experience we have in Europe the better we will get and the better we will become as an established premiership side....If we are in with a chance then give it everything we have got and not shy away from progress, After all if you are not in it you cant win it....
It be nice to get the open top bus back on the road though carrying a great welsh team holding some more silverware for the whole of Swansea to enjoy again ? As long as we sort some quality strength in depth which we need anyway then go for it while the chances are there. To see the swans beat a great team like Valencia in a competition again would be worth the extra work ?
Another LB, 2 wingers and 2 strikers (If Oli leaves) is depth enough I think to compete in Europe. Could do with a backup keeper aswell but not a priority.
