Yeah taking a trip down to Brum tonight, This is our 60th game of the season and its beginning to show. Blackpool at the weekend just awful to watch - what's more worrying is that that was the same starting 11 that played Reading off the park a few games ago.
Horrible start (and season) for Birmingham - they probably did well to keep Wigan off the scoresheet for the rest of the match. Too bad Macheda wasn't able to add to his goal tally tonight. I would have preferred Reading or Brighton over two games in the playoffs, but if Reading were to win their last match and Wigan lose, those two could still swap places, but highly unlikely, although stranger things have happened. I see Charlton are safe with their 3-1 win over Watford, who had nothing to play for, other than pride.
It is down to the wire. Blackburn host Wigan and Reading host Burnley. Whilst the former pair will be having a battle, Reading are playing a team already promoted. Should be entertaining.
I think we'll get Wigan. Burnley will want to finish on a high an I think that'll prove too much for the plastics.
The scheduled fixtures on Saturday could be shaping up for a really interesting season finale for Reading, Brighton & Blackburn. Wigan are already in the playoffs, but outsiders Blackburn still have every incentive to at least try to pick up a win and finish on 70 pts, but must score a bunch of goals as their GD is 7 less than both Reading & Brighton. Likewise for Reading - if they can beat Burnley, and Wigan lose, will end up in 5th place on GD, with Wigan 6th. Also if Brighton go to Forest and win, they would end up on 72 pts, and 6th place if Reading lose or tie (on GD). As for us, our only excitement is more squad experimentation at poor old relegated Barnsley. ...Team..G..GD..PTS 5 Wigan 45 14 73 6 Reading 45 14 70 7 Brighton 45 14 69 8 Blackburn 45 7 67
