Apart from that being a operation perpetrated by what you might call 'dissident' Republicans, civilians were not targeted.

That wasn't the IRA, that was the Real IRA who were an extremist break away faction, of an extremist organisation... but again despite the fact that I have nothing but revulsion for such an act it was done in my name - just as Bloody Sunday was done in yours.

Are you moving the goalposts, I thought you asked me to specify an act of "Militant Republicanism"? How were civilans NOT targeted?

The reference point being my posting in support for what you call "terrorists". I have not posted anything in support of non GFA Republicans so I thought it relevant to point out that this would not be one of the actions that you have stated your belief that I may be in support of.

Because they were not the target.

The pub in Guildford was filled with troops just back from Ireland and the two pubs in Birmingham were not claimed by the IRA (although it probably was imo).

The point is that you don't phone warnings if you are targeting civilians.

There was a military target for that. I think it was the UDR.

The funny thing is as hard as stopme is trying, I can probably bring out half a dozen worse examples than he can, starting with (the worst of the lot) the Kingsmill Massacre.

He still doesn't get my point earlier though, that I can drag up hundreds of individual events from South Africa to Derry that were done in the name of the United Kingdom that are as disgraceful as any terrorist act to this day.

To brush it off as "it wasn't me" only has any credence when he doesn't throw the "what about this" in regards to things done (not by me or you) in the name of Irish nationalism back.

I was going to give him Kingsmill as a gimme. I was discussing that on here with Ciaran and when the HET findings came out it certainly made for uncomfortable reading for Republicans. The point was made at the time that the attack (under the name of South Armagh Republcan Force) did have the effect of stopping the indiscriminate attacks on the local Nationalist population. It doesn't make it right, but it does explain it.

Both Ciaran and I were quite clear that it made us uncomfortable.

    This episode started with;

And I am still none the wiser. You mention Derry which as a resident here is fairly prominent in my thinking on the subject. On the day the Saville Inquiry was released a friend was over from England. I suggested that he not go out that day with his 'Help for Heroes' wristband. Not that anyone would know what it was, just that he didn't need the hassle. He had an amazing day and commented how incredible it was that the feeling was not one of bitterness but of joy and that nobody bore him any ill will(his accent very obviously betrayed him).

That gave me a strange pride but of course, it is obvious. He isn't to blame for what happened here.

I'd never heard of the Kingsmill Massacre, that's the last time I buy their bread.

Not an apologist for what happened at Kingsmill, but many Catholic civilians were killed in the days and weeks prior to that in that area.

Well instead of posting extreamly offensive personal insults, why don't you instead address the issues in the OP?

    Oh that's right...

    You can't.

It's nice to see THFC actually has an opinion though, I always thought he was some kind of manufactured person made to put out stats on football forums everywhere, i mean, i've seen him post his threads on 3 different Spurs forums, he even made one on a separate QPR forum when we played them.

You can't mention something like "it had the desired effect" then acknowledge that "it doesn't make it right" - if your point doesn't make it right then don't make the point.

You might pick up a trick from the likes of Stopme who sits all day being all pro British with us, then says "it wasn't me" in regards to everything ever done by his country which he doesn't agree with. You seem to fight the corner of something even as bad as the Kingsmill massacre with your explanations of the context, even though you surely know it can't be excused in any context.
