Is it a coincidence that since been told £60m will be spent on players if we get into the championship we lose two games

Yes I reckon it is a coincidence. Against Charlton the performance level wasnt much different to previous weeks. Their keeper was top notch and we came unstuck against what is probably a decent side and a manager savvy enough to have a good game plan. Last night the players let themselves down, reminiscent of Shrewsbury. I dont know why so many were poor but they were and it was a case of not doing jobs properly.

Remember also lots of players are out of contract anyway and are playing for one. If they think staying in league 1 is how to get another they must be daft. I also think players want achievementw on their cv. If we go up and they move on they are more marketable with a promotion on their cv than being part of 2 or 3 successive failed seasons.

I think that Saturday's game will be a turning point in the season in one way or another. Either LJ has the dressing room and they will stand up and be counted or we'll slump and make the playoffs. Either way I do think he now needs to play the best player in their position for the remainder of the season.

Personally, I believe that we will give Blackpool a good seeing to and will start us off again in the push for promotion. I know that Hull are 8pts and P'Boro are 5pts clear but I don't think it's over... At best we may clinch 2nd spot as to win it is even beyond my expectations.

I didnt see last nights result coming even after getting beat on Saturday, we could have won quite easily on Saturday if we took our chances but last night was a right kick in the balls. The defence has been largely tight with Power, Sanderson, Onien & McFadzean, we all know McFadzean isnt the greatest but collectively they have done well. So to put Wright & Hume in from the start was a mistake in my opinion, both are clearly lacking match fitness and it looked pretty obvious that it affected us defensively. His tinkering in central midfield is really starting to piss me off as well, put 2 in and leave them to form a partnership, Leadbitter is our best central midfielder Ive said it time and again, he keeps things ticking over, he keeps it safe and he provides the defence with a great outlet for playing out from the back, he calms things down and doesnt panic. Its going to be very difficult now for automatic promotion but the players have proved they are capable of winning games and hopefully the manager learns from his mistakes.
agreed mate tinkering can have some serious negative effects, i really had high hopes for Jones but even he was ineffective, and after the goal he had, it was a worldy in my humble opinion Thought we had found a world beater, looking back the EFL has a lot to answer for as the rot came when they let that goalie loan go through still fuming about it

it's really nice to see how positive you are mate , i'm behind you in your outlook, putting Blackpool to the sword will go a long way to restoring faith back into the supporters who have been sorley let down by that mediocre display

I thought that was supposed to happen against Wigan just shows you what I know but against Blackpool not a chance.

Can’t wait for us to take it to the last game of the season just to lose against Northampton,

it won’t happen but if we win all 6 I think we’ll go up, i think Charlton will
Beat hull last game of the season
bugger ill have to buy new under kegs now in case that senario come true

We are either going to be feeling s hit or absolutely ecstatic does anybody think the lads can still do it?
I like to be positive, but I honestly think to go up we have to win all 6 and out of those 6 we have Blackpool twice and Wigan which I think may be too much to ask
However if by some strange way we were to win on Saturday and Hull got beat things could look a little different

I think it’s gone now like (top 2). We had to beat Wigan for that to remain a realistic possibility. We’ve got to play Hull away and Blackpool home and away. The worrying thing now is that we end the season in poor form and go into the play offs in a fragile state. Taking four points off Blackpool would at least show we are going he be a force to be reckoned with in the post season.

When I did that predictor thing a few weeks ago, I had us sneaking home with 89 points. To do that now, we would need 6 wins, as 5 wins and a draw would only take us to 87.
As it stands, Hull and Peterborough can afford to lose 2 games each and still reach 88 points.

We've got to press on until it's mathematically impossible, of course, but if/when that time comes and a play off spot is secured, I would be resting a few of our key players in the hope it will freshen them up for the play offs.

I still think both the top 2 will drop points, Hull are unbeaten in 10 but have tough games including us, Lincoln away, Charlton away last game of the season, thats not an easy run in. Peterboroughs form is up & down and they have tough games against Gillingham, Charlton away, Lincoln, and Doncaster home & away.
Almost all the top 2s fixtures involve playing teams fighting for play offs or against relegation, never easy games as we well know. Lincoln & Charlton are going to have a big say in the automatic spots, we only got 1 point out of both games against them and we were in good form, I think they are both more than capable of taking points of the top 2
Anyway I have convinced myself we are going up in 2nd and will now stop looking at the table and fixtures because its stomach churning thinking about them poxy play offs.

4-5 months ago even the playoffs felt like a challenge. So I'd have definitely taken where we are now back then. And as I've said elsewhere, I feel more comfortable with another year in this division now than I would have done back then. Removal of wage limits (although FFP still in place) and with a chance for a good recruitment team to have a near complete re-build is encouraging.

just read on f/book (yeh i know) and cant see anything on safc.com but apparently sanderson out for the season.

if so, this is a massive dent in any remaining hopes we might have...after wigan, i cant honestly see us winning again this season if that same team turns up, one shot on target and nothing worth a mention the entire second half.

Good outlook marra !

Only last week, many of us on here said that if we beat Charlton then we should go on to automatically, yeah?

So if we did beat Charlton, but then failed to beat Blackpool, then that's still 3 points from six, right?

Beat Blackpool and get back on track lads.

Ha'way me bonny lads !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with all of this. I was still ok with everything up until Tuesday. Can still do it IF we can find the right team and level of effort from Saturday onwards, and then sticking with that team through the last 6 games. There will be an element of luck now on whether LJ finds that team from Saturday; might be too late after that.
