With the words cum and roger being bandied about together, I thought I had logged into a gay pawn site by mistake!
It would be nice to buy a foreign player ....that ive ****ing heard of. Then again, he might be an "undiscovered gem"
Newell's Old Boys have confirmed their interest in signing reported Sunderland target Ignacio Scocco from Internacional. The 28-year-old started his career at the Argentine side and spent time on loan there last season, but Scocco's father has previously stated that a move to Wearside could be on the cards following Sunderland's interest. However, the striker is also a target for his previous club, as confirmed by Newell's president Guillermo Lorente, who also claims that Scocco himself is keen on a return. "Ignacio Scocco is very interested in returning to Newell's and likewise, Newell's are very interested in bringing him back," he told Radio La Red. "We are paying close attention to the situation; we know the player is important for the club." Lorente also spoke of an administration issue with Scocco's current club which could open up a move. "Internacional didn't pay one of the instalments which were due to be paid by January 10. We'll consider all possibilities to be able to bring him," he said. http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11095/9119116/?
I have a feeling this lad would only be coming under duress and not out of ambition. Would he have and impact straight away? Probably not and will need time to acclimatise. I'd sooner go for Rhodes and see a player who is destined for bigger and better things in his career and could make an instant impact for us.

The future of reported Sunderland striker target Ignaccio Scocco appears to be no nearer to being decided despite a lengthy meeting between the player's agent and Internacional. Reports in Argentina claim that Inter have ruled out a loan move for now whilst Sunderland are unwilling to invest a hefty chunk of cash on a 28-year-old player. Meanwhile, Cardiff City have been mentioned as a possible alternative destination. Inter vice-president Marcelo Medeiros said after the meeting: We met with Scocco's representatives, but the proposals were not good. Proposals are teams that want to do a loan deal, and our goal is to sell Scocco. See what tomorrow brings. At first glance it all seems very infuriating for fans. It will no doubt raise accusations of penny pinching, cost cutting and the like whilst a relegation rival steals in and nabs him as we squabble over pennies, etc. That would probably be quite harsh, though. First of all, I am not all that sure how far our interest in the player stretches. Gus Poyet has both mentioned him as a possible target and played down reports that he is being actively pursued. It wouldn't be a surprise if what we are seeing played out here is a little bit of brinksmanship. Sunderland aren't sufficiently convinced Scocco will settle quickly enough in England to justify a big transfer fee and contract now, so are hoping that Inter run out of options late in the transfer window and settle for an initial loan instead. It is also slightly suspicious that Cardiff's name - the one club below Sunderland in the league - has been suddenly thrown up. You know, as if it was deliberately designed to try and put the pressure on. And all that is even if he is a solid target at all. The impression we have always got is that it is mostly agent-driven and we might be interested if the deal is right. I think it boils down to how much of a gambler you are really. Lay down the cash and secure him now or try to wait it out and get the deal you actually want? Some would say Sunderland's position makes brinksmanship too high a stakes game to play. Personally, I say gambling is always easier with other people's money. http://rokerreport.sbnation.com/2014/1/21/5328748/scocco-sunderland-cardiff-transfer-rumours
31 minutes ago A few reports coming out in the last few minutes that Inter have accepted £4 million bid for Scocco from Cardiff. Surely SAFC could afford that!?
Cant believe our transfer policy at the moment Long gone for 5.5 jelavic gone as well we bring in a defender where its obvious our failings are a striker who can score goals
Well it's done then. If they won;t loan him to us then we cut the ties. A completely unproven player coming to one of the hardest league to acclimatise would be pointless IMO. If things did not work out for him then we lose most of his signature fee? If they want him then the club should go and say "here's the loan fee, if he helps secure premier league football then we'll pay you the £5m you want - if not then we'll send him back." Wouldn't thank you for either of them at their prices Mitch. £14m for 2 strikers with about 4 league goals between them all season? Not a great investment IMO and neither would better the side we have currently. Jelavic is a lot like Cisse up the road - scored loads at first, got found out now can;t hit a barn door - We have Altidore to miss the barn door so no job for Jellyfish. Shane long is a twat - that is all!!
and our strikers have how many goals we paid £6m for Graham and I would take Long all day over him £6m for Altidore I would take Long all day over both of them. All im saying is we have a defender in and if reports are right lose out to Cardiff for soccocco. We missed out on huddlestone last year the only player Di Canio said he wanted so where is it going wrong are our negotiators that crap
We will have to wait to see what happens by the 31st of January. If we have not brought a striker in by then it I I will be gutted.
£5 mill is too much of a gamble for Scocco. Let Cardiff take the chance for me. If we're going to take a risk with a striker I'd have a punt on Jordan Rhodes. Knows where the net is , prem defenders haven't faced him before , so could come in and have a similar effect as McLean did a couple of seasons ago. As for risky South Americans , we should learn from past mistakes imo.
TBF we needed a LB as Dossa not that good, we need a keeper cos Westy long-term injury and CB cos we really have no decent back-up to Brown and O'Shea... If however you are arguing we also need a CM (I presume main target id Bridcutt9?0 and even more urgently need a decent striker Socco(?) I whole heartedly agree. Problem is Short has coughed up about £5m for Graham and Altidore, Gardner, Vaughan, Cattermole etc and even more for Wickham and how much a loss did we take on Ji a very strange sale from one german club to another. Personally I reckon we need to spend £10m+ on a striker, and I would have sold Johnson and Wickham to pay for it, Johnson if he can keep his form up is now a must keep.
I think the fact we are recruiting 2 other Argentinian players says we will be bringing this Scocco in as well. Just my opinion like
Aye Cest, I'm kinda thinking this too. And they'll settle in quicker because they are familiar faces.
