I can't remember my first game, however it would have been 1949/1950 season, 5 years old. Taken by my Dad, Granddad and Uncle, they then took me to every home match. North Stand to the left of the goal, sat on the barrier, They didn't have to pay for me that season, one paid went through the turnstiles and they allowed them to pass me over from the outside. Can you imagine the Allams allowing that ? Started paying for me the next season.
My first City match was in October 1976, a 2-0 win over eventual champions Wolves. John Hawley scored twice - setting a path that endures 45 years on, I missed the first goal while having a piss. I was hooked within five minutes of kick off. And while the environment in which we watch football is now much changed - less standing, separated home and away fans, no fag smoke - much of it remains. The amusing comments, the singing, the beers and the time with your mates, the gloriously random nature of football that places it above all other sports. I could never give it up, nor would I want to.
To be fair nowhere would allow that nowadays. You can't do that in all seater stadiums with allocated seating.
Similar problems to me. I missed Hawley's goal of the season against Sunderland whilst having a piss.
I don't recall my first official game. It was mid 1980's with Bunn, Jobson, Parker and Payton in the side, I went a few times with my dad. My first independent game was in 1996. I recall being told about our unbeaten run start to the season by a mate and went to the Rochdale game. Doncel scored. The rest is history! Spent the next 15 years following City all over but with the addition of a family coinciding with rise of the Allams and living away from Hull I gave up my season ticket in 2015. Probably done a handful off games since then and do miss it, especially when you see highlights of the great times we have had at Fer Ark and the KC. One day we will be able to reclaim our club and new memories will be made!
Bristol Rovers on the day of Churchill's funeral...Id be 6 years of age. I think City won 3-2 1st away Scunthorpe at the old show ground....4-2 win
My uncle took me to my first game, but I've no idea what game it was, the first game I actually remember was Bremner's debut in '76.
I reckon there are quite a few that can claim an early first game, but it does open up the question to when the second one was, or when we started to attend regularly.
