The irony of posters saying they dislike the prem for the lack of soul and how players are becoming detached from the game itself, while they themselves slate a player for reacting like any of us would after scoring in a cup final (let alone the 17th in the competition) is quite funny. I think for some this is less about what's bad in the prem - and there is lots (many of the comments I agree with) and more about hatred and bitterness.

The belief that any English player in the league is world class.

But I believe he cheated to achieve that celebration, I'm not questioning the celebration, just the way he cheated just so he could do it. Which goes back to lack of soul part. I've never cheated to get a penalty to win a game let alone cheat just to steal some thunder.

Really....so all human beings would rip off their shirt to flex their abs on scoring a penalty when the game was already clearly won?

Nothing bitter about it...it's about a sense of morality and proportion, let alone a little disrespectful. If any normal person acted like that they would be asked to visit their psychiatrist but because like all celebrities some people hold them at some sort of God given status it's deemed acceptable behaviour.

Whereas i see it as the spoilt little prick that he is that was missing out on the attention. As i said earlier in the thread there is a diagnosis for it...

Exacrtly the same as Gary O Neil yesterday then - denied Derby an excellent goal scoring opportunity and then boasted about it live on TV and over Twitter.

It's breaking the rules of the game - ergo cheating. "first red card in 15 years - worth it now tho eh?" - not exactly humble is it?!

Hey - we'd all want our players to do it but I'm just saying what Ronaldo is getting slated for was no worse than what O Neil did.

    Give up with the bullshit.

Rumour is this self loving prick of an ego is getting a million euro bonus for winning the champions league...

Hes giving it to the non playing/coaching staff and and charity.

Wouldnt be the first time. He brewed up for the staff at old Trafford and is well known for his charity work.

As for spoilt, nobody in football, probably in sport works harder than ronaldo. He is what all playera should aspire to be as a professional. On and off the pitch.

And yes, it was a penalty. Clear as day. Gabi ran back and hacked at him. Glad the ref booked the wrong man though.

You just contradicted yourself...you said it's bullshit in the first sentence, then in the next state...'Rumour is this self loving prick of an ego' - so he has got a psychological disorder then?

Several players in the Orient game just now got booked for cynical fouls aimed at stopping attacks. Is that ok by you?

O'Neil didn't try to con anyone. Ronaldo arguably did.

I would definitely show the world my moobs if I scored a penalty at Wembly. Probably jiggle my belly around in front of the camera- bend over and drop my shorts enough just so the fans could see a small fringe of bum hair.

You would like to believe all of that I'm sure. Your comments do seem a little irrational. It's a football match, a champions league final...and you're talking of "normal" people like somehow he's working on the checkout at Asda? I also don't understand how "morality" and "disrespect" come into it. Very odd comments. I'm afraid you seem to judge people at face value without really knowing anything about them. And that smacks of bitterness.

Success and admiration in global sports can stroke the egos of the best of us. But no matter the ego, most (if not all) sportsmen start from humble beginnings, and in their greatest glory, many will never forget those humble beginnings....

just a shame that you can only see your hatred, rather than the redeeming quality of the player's real celebration, and with it his humility. BTW that shirt he allegedly "ripped off" is with the guy he's hugging at the bottom, Albert Fantrau <ok>

bad things about the premier League is the money that is involved.
Fans turning on their team after a bad run no more pride or passion for the game
