    I forgot how upset you get when people assume Geordies support Newcastle. In the main they do though. If they are sensible. I'm not having him as a Geordie, an adopted Geordie, a Newcastle supporter, or anything other. I live in Northumberland despite being born in Newcastle and I don't think its right he is associated with that area. I have yet to see a head that size on anybody in Northumberland.

    I believe Steve Bruce is hot favourite to play John Merrick in the remake of Elephant Man after revealing he is the son of the man made famous by David Lynch's poignant film in 1980.

    Whilst Joeseph Carey Merrick(John) was born Leicester before moving down to London it is thought that Steve Bruce is unlikely to have been conceived there.

    For obvious reasons Mr. Merrick struggled to hold down relationships with women once his terrible affliction got it's hideous hold on him, however he did seek solace and succumbed to the attentions of a white rhino with blood pressure whilst touring with a local circus.

    DNA samples taken from the rhino and the spittle found on the touchline at St James Park after last years 5-1 derby defeat are an exact match.
