5 Best and Worst NUFC transfers

Im not trying to take anything away from JT, he was and still is truly world class. Just for me, Woodgate was a different level, his composure was up there with the best and it's a shame we didn't get to see more of him.

I wouldn't say he was one of your best signings because he was a crock.

For what it's worth Woodgate had a mixed time at Real but it was due to injury and fighting for fitness rather than lack of quality or bottle. A year out with injury and the worst debut in history and yet by the January of his first playing season for them they were chanting his name and the papers were referring to him as Reals "leader on the pitch". Then he got injured further, never really recovered and got voted as one of the ten worst signings of the decade in a poll. Just an horrendously unlucky player, he had everything and is one of my top few players I've seen play for us. Probably the most influential on the overall team.

did woodgate not score an own goal and get sent off on his debut .. I think anyway lots of people have different views I respect that ..and even though he didn't play in that final against Bayern he still was a cl winner and has that medal ...
and you cant take that away from him ..

As a person he's truly pathetic and this highlights it. Keane and Scholes didn't get one in '99 yet John Terry has one, you work that one out.

 

I was working in Leeda when we signed woodgate and had a few (probably only few) good leeds supporters working for me and they were all saying that woodgate was far the better player than Rio and they couldnt believe that they had let him go for 9m when rio went for 30m!

Woodgate was a touch of class when he played, proven i think when a team like RM come in for you. He easily makes it in my all time nufc team . if it was not for his injuriea then he would have been better and worth alot more.
