That seems reasonable. Liverpool have more fans (globally) so why do they have so much trouble filling their stadium compared to Chelsea in recent years?
Globally = not everyone is located in England. Plus there are literally thousands of Liverpool fans in England itself (as I'm sure there are for Chelsea) who rarely go to games for one reason or another.
Surely all clubs could use the same excuse. Bottom line is Chelsea Arsenal and United have had 98-99% capacity crowds in recent years in the Prem and Liverpool haven't. In the Fa cup similarly, the former clubs get bigger crowds; Liverpool just 31k v reading. And European games, Liverpool getting under 40k for matches too, as low as 30k. carling cup too, 21k v Northampton, with Chelsea getting double the crowd for their Carling games, and United/Arsenal getting treble
What a pointless thread. Bears no relevance to pretty much anything. Even if we all agree with the silly OP & the piranhas that followed assumption that some fans are either slightly disillusioned etc with this team or the general malaise for the past few years what's the importance of the point? Does it signal a hurtle towards decline & destruction. Obviously not or all you sad bastards wouldn't still be camped out here. Will those missing 5k have any bearing on our team next year; nope. Are people that sad on here that they can't settle for their teams performing consistently better than ours for the last few years (you know! In playing actual football) that they have to invent childish competitions & pretend to discuss them seriously? What on earth has that got to do with football. I mean we could build a 100000 seater , have all those enthusiastic supporters waiting on the list attend and maybe only have 85% attendance are we suddenly a better team then? Or are we even worse despite doubling out weekly attendance? Nonsense. Must try better. This is just.....sad
Stamford Bridge Capacity : 41,837 98% = 41,000 Anfield Capacity : 45,522 94% = 42,790 Fact l o p Your argument is null and **** Anthonydenton
Why would people pay to watch a game in which we knew it was going to be a second string team who have barely started a game with each other this season?
A full list of all our home gates in the Premier League(most of those near the bottom are due to ground re-construction). http://www.liverweb.org.uk/atts.asp?comp=Premiership&venue=home A full list of all of our FA Cup home gates. http://www.liverweb.org.uk/atts.asp?comp=FA Cup&venue=home A full list of our League Cup home gates. http://www.liverweb.org.uk/atts.asp?comp=League Cup&venue=home A full list of our Champions League home gates. http://www.liverweb.org.uk/atts.asp?comp=Champions League&venue=home Bare in mind our capacity has fluctuated from 41,000 to 44,000 in the last 20+ years and from 56,000 to 44,000 in the last 35+ years. So knock yourself out Denton.
Only 5000 empty seats? Well that is an improvement on last seaaon when for cup games and Europa they averaged 25000 att.... Self proclaimed "best fans in the world" you have to laugh.
No they don't. I've been to many games at the Emirates as a mate has two season tickets, and on more than one occasion they give the attendance as full, when there are clearly upwards of 5000 empty seats. These are probably season ticket holders choosing not to attend, as at Anfield last night.
It's actually quite laughable that fans of Chelsea, a club with probably the most affluent fans in the league bar Fulham and possibly Arsenal, could mock a far bigger club with a less affluent support for their crowds considering what they were getting through the gate in the 80s. Liverpool have plenty of plastics for sure- you only have to listen to 606 to hear the many views of the 'Raj the Liverpool fan in Harrow who wasn't at the game but thinks Dalglish needs to go' type, but Chelsea's cringeworthy flag-wavers are on another level.
There really are some sad twats on here. I was made redundant a month ago, but I still put my hand in my pocket when I had the chance of a Kop ticket. Does anyone else agree with me that the rest of the football supporting population (possibly even including a good percentage of united fans) would like to see us twat the chavs on Saturday?
Liverpool these days aren't "far bigger". 20 years ago they would have been. I agree though that Fulham are the most affluent around closely followed by Arsenal and Spurs but Chelsea have a huge working class fanbase, I know many that can't afford to go. No disrespect to Liverpool but they wouldn't sell out if they had to pay the prices we did. And they are in a city where they are one of only 2 teams.
