    Newcastle 0 - 0 Arsenal
    Sunderland 0 - 1 Newcastle
    Scunthorpe 1 - 2 Newcastle
    Newcastle 2 - 1 Fulham
    QPR 0 - 0 Newcastle
    Aston Villa 1 - 1 Newcastle
    Nottingham Forest 3 - 4 Newcastle
    Newcastle 1 - 0 Wigan
    Newcastle 2 - 1 Everton
    Newcastle 0 - 0 Swansea
    Newcastle 2 - 1 Blackburn

All happened without Ba scoring a single goal.

I think some people fail to realise that without Ba, we don't just go down to 10 men. Someone else fills the gap, and that someone else is a striker who will score goals. Perhaps not as prolific as Ba, but good enough to get us through this spell.

Even if Ba was here and managed the incredible record of one goal per game for all of the games during the ACoN, that's only 3 or 4 goals, tops.

    7th is still the target.
If we remember past season you got to remember Liverpool always do well second half of the season, Chelsea always have mid season blips then have a final Big push.

But I dont think theirs any point making any predictions till after transfer window closes consider the last january one teams can completely change (hopefully ours for the better).

What a stupid twat Marcusblackcat is. Without Ba's goals we'd be bottom of the league?

Why the **** do you sign strikers for anyway? Why do clubs pay 30+ million for quality?

You can't just start cherry picking players from a team and saying "without him you'd be ****ed".

Without Ba we would have signed someone else, and he may have scored more or less than Ba, but I guess we'll never know.

Ba, Cabaye, Tiote, Jonas, Coloccini, Saylor and Krul have all contributed massively to our season. Not just Ba.

Some of his goals were down to his quality mainly, but a lot of them were due to the hard work of our team.

Where would Man utd be this season without Rooney?

Where would Arsenal be without Van Persie?

Where would Spurs be without Adebayor?

Teams have bought these players for a reason.

With a GK as good as Krul, and a CB like Colo, we can absorb the loss of our top goalscorer for a short time. With them on form we generally don't concede more than one goal per game, so as long as someone pops up to knick one (such as Best yesterday), we should be okay.

Why not? Draw is a draw. Whether its 0-0 or 5-5 it's still a point.

No Ba, no goals. But on the whole you're right mate, we can survive without him, although we're not the same team.

It's silly, as I said, if we hadn't have bought Ba, we would have bought another striker that may have done as well, we never know.

There wouldn't just be an empty space in the team.

We'll never know if he doesn't try it. all I know is Best works harder than Shola, he's quicker, he's got a better touch (unless Shola is having a glory day when his touch becomes like Messi!), and he is equally as good a finisher. I think he holds the ball as least as well as Shola. I'd say he was better than him at it but each to their own. Shola seems to have only one advantage in that he is slightly better aerially. That advantage is a disadvantage to the team because we go long ball and don't look as effective. To play passing football you must have movement. Best moves, Shola doesn't.

I wouldn't say 4th is realistic at all.

A top 10 finish is the overall aim and the top 5/6 positions will begin to fall into place soon enough with Man Utd, Man City, Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs taking the top 5 slots.

Perhaps it will be Newcastle and Liverpool fighting it out for the 6th position but I'd be happy with 6th to 10th place as it shows improvement.

I'd be disappointed if we finished below 8th tbh.

We could have finished their last season, we were seconds away from doing it but we chucked it away.

We should have finished in the top 10 last season.

True. But we didn't so any improvement on last seasons finishing position can only be construed as a positive advancement.

I'm a big believer in Kaizen; Small, continuous improvements.

Definitely, at the start of the season, I'd agree. But where we are now, surely to finish 10th wouldn't be progress from here? Baring in mind we were 5 mins from 10th last season, I would consider anything less than 8th very disappointing. Right now, I'm aiming for 6th, I think that's realistic.

Yes but if we want to keep our best players, a top 10 finish isn't big enough ambition IMO.

Top 7 should be the aim, 8th minimum.

Heck, when thinking about it, I'd hate it if ****ing ****ty Stoke finished above us.
