If they stick with Kenny and continue their transfer policy of buying absolute **** we should be able to challenge them for 6th. They're average at best without Gerrard.

In your defence, spend as much as they have and they SHOULD be a lot better <whistle>

I actually think you have a better squad than them, maybe a better starting 11 too. Here goes. Winner in bold.

Krul - Reina (been crap this season)
    Simpson - Johnson
    Colo - Agger
    Saylor - Skrtel
Santon - Enrique (not been as good as last season)
Tiote - Lucas (vastly improved, still no match for tiote though)
Cabaye - Gerrard (Cabaye is very good, Gerrard is world class)
Jonas - Downing (Most people are better than Downing)
    HBA - Henderson (See downing)
    Syrup Man - Carroll
Shola - Suarez (a racist swine, but a far better player)

I'll generally agree with that, although I think Santon has to prove himself a little while longer before I'll put him over Enrique. Though I'm really excited by his progress!

I saw a lot of Santon at Inter, he looked near world class then, he's just taking time to settle at the moment. He's a player i'm suprised we didn't try to sign.

He's the perfect example of why sometimes its better to keep your transfer business on the DL

Let's just take each hurdle as it comes. Although it's nice mixing with the big spenders at the moment, let's just get to 40 points as quickly as possible and then reassess from there.

Champions League would be quite amazing, but I see it as extremely unlikely. Over the remaining games of the season would have to pick up MORE points than a lot of the teams above us, and at the moment, I'd be chuffed to bits of we simply picked up the same amount. Really chuffed in fact.

It all depends on injuries and form. Even one injury to a key player could see us dropping down the table by a couple of places by the end of the season. That's how tight it will be.

    Love the optimism though <ok>

4th is not realistic but 6th is a possibility, 7th would be great but we could end up just top 10

Agree with pretty much everything but the bit in bold could be said about the teams around us, if Arsenal for example lost RVP they could easily drop a few places, there doesnt seem to be any easy games this season and IF we do keep relatively injury free with the team bond we have and a couple of decent low key signings there is no reason we cant build on where we are. but at the start of the season I said I would be happy top 10 because of where we are at this stage I would be disappointed with lower than top 8. Anything else is a MASSIVE bonus

7th will be where we finish (depending on January investment).

It ****s me off when i see Sky saying Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea are battling it out for 4th spot. We're up there too, and should be taken seriously!

1st or nothing imo. This is our season <whistle>.

Seriously though, 4th would obviously be unbelievably brilliant. I'd still be very chuffed with 7th though.

We can compete for 5th to 7th, but to get 4th, we would need genuine quality in a couple of areas. Eg; a class winger , another striker, and another centreback. This + remaining healthy players at the moment.

Nice though, and had we not had an injury crisis that lead to defeat at Carrow Road in December then we'd be hot on the heels of 4th.

But I think 7th is still the realistic aim. The squad depth of others will tell over the whole season.

I think we are ready for the Europa League. The likes of Guthrie, Gosling, Ferguson, Ameobi, Marveaux, Obertan, Abeid, Vuckic should be able to play in the early stages of the competition against the weak sides. That'd give our core players a night off. Add a couple more signings and we could go far in it.

Not counting my chickens though, one game at a time.

i don't think we are anywhere near finishing 4th...however if we buy a couple of decent players in this window i don't see why we can't be challenging for europe

With you on this one. Imagine if Saylor/Williamson hadn't have been injured at same time I think we'd have got 4 points from WBA and Norwich games............happy days.

I'd LOVE it if we beat them to 4th place! LOVE it! :bandit:

Don't see it, yeah we won yesterday but was hardly convincing against a poor QPR side, as others have said would need some investment now. Striker, LB, CB cover & RM cover as a minimum.
