We exploited a release clause of 4.5 million that they didnt think anyone knew about.

Why did you avoid the lower wages comment?

    Selective reading.

Not at all. I don't know what his wages were at Lille, nor what he's on at NUFC so didn't speculate.

Any other randomness you need me to clarify for you? You've done so well so far.

So when this sell on clause was uncovered and made public knowledge, why didn't another club out bid by say, half a mil. £5 mill would still be a steal for such a player and lille would take the higher offer.

Time for a club based wage cap on all clubs in Europe of say £100K per week for all players in a squad of 25 players. Thats £4K per player or £200,000 a year.

Is there any body on here who would turn down a job for £200K a years?

If there is let me know cos I want your job.

With this sort of salary cap you could see tickets commimg down to a level we can all afford and the grounds full, even expanded.

They wouldnt need to outbid us for a start. If a release clause is 4.5 million, the club has to accept every bid that is at least that much. Dont know why no one else bid (probably because we did the deal pretty quickly), he's a quality player.

I can't understand why this is a big deal or why so many of you are upset.

Rightly or wrongly the lad earns more than £40k per week at a good club. In all honesty, if another company in the same industry as the mob I work for came and knocked on my door offering me a job for less money than I was already on I would tell them to **** off too. Especially if they had continually been in the news with stories of player unrest and poor management. As a professional I know exactly what I'm worth, I'm sure this lad and his Agent are the same.

Look, I dont like nufc at all but to have an agent talk about a proud and history rich english football club in this manner is a disgrace. Mags or not, if the player is happy for this prick to handle his affairs then I'd say the player isnt up to much either. The fact the agent feels it neccesary to go public, on what is a private negotiation, stinks of a stalking horse style deal. He is simply flushing out potential buyers to get into an auction for his services.

40k per week being described as ridiculous is in itself a disgrace and I have never even heard of the lad. No idea about him other than you tube. Why would you break the bank for him unless out of desperartion?

If I were Ashley/Partridge, or the mags fans, I'd be happy to let him go and milk some other poor sods club bank balance.

The football world needs to wake up and smell the roses here. The money is running out.

Players can earn far more than that in teams outside of Europe, so they would just move.

Ok mate, you know more about him than me. I'm just a bit mystified as to why, if he is a quality player, there wasn't interest from more prominent clubs. Clubs that could offer european games. Seems odd. I'm probably seeing problems where there aren't any.

    Well said.

I hope Barnetta reads his 'agents' comments and realises what this **** has just said on his behalf.

calm down lads this is standard procedure, ie, the agent is trying to get the best deal out of us for his client. He probably thinks we can offer a massive contract (like Erdinc) and is trying to get it out of us. If he doesn't sign then he is a mercenary and I don't want him.
